only a few flags on the google map in new york. hope to get my leaf by summer 2011. really don't expect any 'public' charging stations around here at all for quite awhile, which is ok; except at the local nissan dealer. fingers crossed to get it by march..... :)

Welcome bradford, I used to live in Poughkeepsie. It will be a tight race to see which one of us gets a Leaf first! You, in the Hudson Valley, or me in Central Pennsylvania. My bet is on you! :)

Bradford,

I suggest not using red for anything but highlighting a phrase or two. Makes it difficult to read - and gives the impression of shouting.

sorry, didn't think of the readability. just thought the red color was appropriote since i 'll be getting a read leaf. guess i'll have to dampen my anticipation a bit. ;)

Could always make a signature... like "Waiting for my RED Leaf!"

Looking forward to my Leaf as early as possible next year in Central New York. Dealer says he's hoping for February. I think he's dreaming.

Though I certainly have no inside info in that regard, I would say you are right. I am in central PA and thinking the late second half of 2011 is POSSIBLE.

Ok New Yorkers, our time is coming soon. My Dashboard opened up yesterday the Schedule home assessment, which is the step before ordering. I called CS to request the waiver, and they told me it would be completed by Sept 29th. I asked if that meant NY orders would be opened the first week of October, and they said "hopefully". Same thing has been reported by MA forum members on the New England thread.

So I started calling local dealers today to get a PD lined up. First call asking for the Leaf Specialist, the receptionist for Sales had no idea what a leaf was. After I convinced her it was a car that Nissan was selling, She transferred me to a random salesman, who responded to my Leaf inquiry with the now classic " what kind of car did you say you want to Lease?"
Finally got to a Leaf Specialist, who was nice, said I was the first Leaf call, I'm going in to see him tomorrow. Don't know if there is anyone else on the forum near Albany, but I will post what price I get. If they want $1000s over MSRP, I'll be looking to buy elsewhere and ship.

Home assessment is also active on my dashboard. However, if I tried to complete it I get a "We're not currently scheduling appointments in your geographic area." message. A quick chat confirmed your date - Sept. 29th is when you can complete this step, ordering to follow. I've already been emailing and talking on the phone with dealers. No one seems to be willing to give a solid quote before the official order process, but more than one told me MSRP. Another hinted that they might look for something more than MSRP. I'm trying to nail down who will offer what before the order process so I can skip the 24 hour wait process after rejecting a quote.

I will also be insisting on NO DEALER badging, and NO DEALER EXTRAs. It's hard to get that in writing up front, too.

Well, we'll see.

Let's keep each other posted on who's gouging and who's not.

Good luck all!

Ordering ??/??/??
SL model - right now it's silver, but I can still change my mind.

So went to a couple dealers today. Got the same response as Relygerg. No pricing until RAQ is open, hints at MSRP+. Told one that MSRP+ is no deal for me. I've noted on the N.C. thread that one member is buying from Leon at Mossy Nissan in San Diego at MSRP with shipping to N.C. included. I'm keeping my eye on that. Leon has a A+++ rating on this forum, I'd have no problem taking that option. I'll be pushing back on MSRP+ from local dealers.

Also, One dealer was surprised to see me, said the last he had heard was orders in February. Though the other dealer did seem to have a pretty go handle on the process.

On the local public charging station front, there is a L2 EVSE installed at the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown Albany, apparently sponsored by the city. Shocking to me. The local Nissan dealers said they were many months away from getting their EVSEs installed. Not sure how they are going to handle service.

Who knew moving from Albany, NY to Chicago years ago would put me closer to the front of the line for a new LEAF ??? not me that's for sure; still miss Bob & Ron's Fish Fry, Ford's Tavern, Saratoga and Lake George in the summer -- don't miss the higher NY income and sales taxes (of course IL is quickly catching up!). Hopefully your local dealer's will start getting their demo's soon as well (Nissan seems to still have some 2011's set aside for this -- at least that's what my dealer ended up with). Of course you'll also need to separate yourself from NYC as being 'Upstate' -- folks out this way think of NY as NYC and your area is more like New England (especially with Albany being 300+ years old) than the big city. Can't remember if Walgreen's gets that far east (I know CVS does) but if they do, you should see some charging stations there as well -- in Chicago several Walgreen's have the same style as the AV units that Nissan recommends.

Just sold my converted electric car today. That much more to put down on the Leaf. I've been following up with dealers on the phone. Seems like I'm educating them more than the other way around. Some are saying that Nissan is telling them that they won't have any Leafs until late spring 2012 at the absolute earliest. Seems to differ from what the Nissan web site and live chat is telling those of us who have preregistered. I begin to wonder if they are trying to lock us in before we can give the Mitsubishi iMiev and other competitors a serious look. Mitsubishi recently sent me an email indicating that as a holder of an early reservation, they would give me $1,000 cash back. Trying to offset the announced price hike. Still, even without that the iMiev is considerably cheaper than the Leaf. I just wish it had better reviews and that I had a chance to drive one before I have to decide about the Leaf.

An April 2012 delivery date would be perfect for me - I might delay placing an order so that I can achieve that. Local dealers seem to have no information on order to delivery time, so I'm stuck with the scripted "90 to 120 days" from CS. I have noted on the Tier 2 regional threads that order to expected deliver is running 3-4 months, so maybe that's real.
If you find a local dealer that offers MSRP, please post name and location.

FYI, my dashboard opened, and I just did the "Request a Quote", I am in Boston, so I am pretty sure its opened to you in New York as well. If you are going to skip the "Home Evaluation", make sure you call them and have the EVSE waiver put on your account, so you will be able to "RAQ"

:) looking good. I am surprised that the my chosen dealer is not yet "Leaf Certified", so I had to pick a dealer further away who is...
