From the U.S. Department of Energy's web site:

And from Florida:

It is funny that the LEAF is conspicuously absent from the decal list, while the Volt is there.

Isn't it fun being a Floridian?

Perhaps use the Contact section and call? Or go into a DMV? There must be someone who updates that list and you just need to find out who they are.

As an aside, from a Californian's perspective I find it interesting that ANY hybrid qualifies for an HOV sticker. I take that to mean that there are not a lot of hybrids on the road in Florida? I guess it's different out West because if everyone in California received an HOV sticker for owning a hybrid, the HOV lane would be beyond useless :)

Best of luck!

Not sure how current, or accurate this is, but I think it gives a pretty good measure of how residents of various states view hybrid cars (and, probably, by extension, electric cars):

I would file the form anyway. The LEAF is a zero emission vehicle, so it should qualify, even if it is absent from the list. I'd file and make them explain to you why it does not qualify if they refuse.

Already cvontacted Florida DOT and they agree that the Leaf should of been included and are working getting this issue resolved and yes to apply for the sticker anyway

Virginia ... now THERE's a state with NO desire to clean up the environment/raise mpg's. You can drive a registeres SUV hybrid there, and still get stickers. Too funny. Then again ... a bunch of our fed legislators live in VA ... and you can't expect THEM to car pool/lead by example ... right?
;)

.

Here, there is a 10,000 HOV limit (Fed permission) on hybrids and they have to be a Prius, Honda Insight, or Honda Civic HB (high mileage hybrids). The last article I saw was another 2500 left.
