First Post.

Went to the National Drive Electric Event held close to the DFW Airport this morning. Some well needed rain and over 150 cars in attendance. Were still in the research mode and it was nice to see so many EV in one location. First and Second Gen Leafs, Tesla's X-S-3, BMW, BOLT & VOLT's even a couple of Fisker's.

The Leaf is leading the pack if all I've read is correct for 2019. 200 Mile Plus, TMS.

When I got to the display for Nissan I asked when will we see the first 60Kw arriving. The first rep said January February 2019. The Second Rep chimed in with Oct. this year. OK great a definitive soon.

Then asked about TMS. Just that way..TMS. The Nissan Rep actually asked what's TMS. My reply Thermal Management System.

Now the knee bender for me.

According to the Rep the 2019 Leaf will have “NO” thermal management system. I pushed and said that’s not what I’ve been reading. He pushed back with – I’m Nissan and “No Thermal Management in 2019.

Ok..asked for a card so I could contact him with emails showing what has been online. I think he should know. It's

Electric Vehicle, Business Development Manager for Nissan, Brian Zelis.

I'm not sure if the Leaf will stay at the top of the list if he is correct.

Thanks so much for relaying this information. Previously leased the 2011 Leaf for 3 years, and now we've been considering the 2018 Leaf, but since it's now September, also thinking we would delay until the 2019 Leaf came out "with 60 kwh and TMS". I guess we're still in the dark!

Please update us if you hear more!

First off, battery capacity is measured in kWh, not "Kw".

Second, thermal management has all been rumor. I've never seen ANY confirmation or statement from Nissan officially stating there would be thermal management on the model year 2019 or ~60 kWh Leaf. All they've said about model year 2019 is "For those who want more excitement and performance, Nissan will also offer a new higher power, longer range version at a higher price for the 2019 model year" from http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2018-nissan-leaf-press-kit. They also referred to it at the unveil in Japan, verbally.

And, slightly more recently (but still last year), they'd put up a slide stating 225+ miles of range. I pointed to it at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=532101#p532101.

Anything else is all rumor. Please provide pointers/links to what you've been reading. I keep seeing people taking rumors like at https://pushevs.com/2017/12/29/nissan-sees-leafs-competition/ and echoing them as fact. As far as I'm concerned, beyond what was in the slides shown by official Nissan corporate folks (e.g. 225+ mile EPA range rating) some of it is just wishful thinking. AFAIK, they're all rumors until we hear official word.

Can't find the link, but I'm pretty sure Insideevs confirmed TMS. I'm still trying to get info out of my contact, but as I mentioned it's a friend of a friend situation.

^^^
You could Google for site:insideevs.com 2019 leaf thermal management. As far as I know, it's still rumor/wishful thinking.

I'm more than open to be being proven wrong about my statements about wishful thinking vs. confirmed info. Just need to see something concrete beyond all the BS I've seen.

So I am guessing that they will release 2019 LEAF this fall (unchanged from 2018 model), and then sometime in Q2/Q3 of 2019 they will release bigger battery version as 2020 model year. Everything seems to point in that direction.

From what Nissan published today you would be correct.
