Since this question comes up often, here is a how to on posting images.

1. Upload your picture from the computer to a free picture hosting site like imageshack.us
2. If the site gives an option to resize your image use an size which is less than 800 pixels wide. For eg. Imageshack gives an option for "message boards" of 640x480.
3. The site will give upload your photo and then give a code to use in forums, like the below.
Code:
[IMG]http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2721/img00071201101171502.jpg[/IMG]
4. Copy the code from the site and paste it in your forum post.

I'll update this post with screen shots when I'm feeling less lazy

People with experience with other websites pls post your "how to"s.

Here is a youtube video of how to.

Yea . . . it's pretty evident some have way less experience posting pic's than others . . . and so you end up having to scrole over 100 miles to reach the other side of the snapshot.

When leopard grain discount handbags comes back across T-stage shows, market streets, fashion magazine, maybe a piece of leopard grain filar towel, a pair of leopard grain high-heeled shoes, a leopard grain designer handbags also come more simple freely, ladies in pursuit of vogue might as well wear some plain coloured simple tie-in dress, and take big European and leisure designer discount handbags.

discount handbags, http://www.designerdiscounthandbags.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, designer handbags, designer discount handbags

As good as this spam is I am compelled to remove the post. Bye-

You might not want to quote the spam when you do that as the links remain and still aid their SEO efforts...

Apparently it is not possible to link to images wich are hosted at http://bayimg.com/ (BayIMG) ?
here is a picture hosted there:
JAlPHaaEm

The only thing I see is the word "Image".

You need a URL that points directly to an actual JPEG. Your link goes to a page that shows the image. Try this:
2385b77c5694f936e2b2b3f80ca2609eabb4b839.jpg

I right clicked on their image and copied the image location. Click the "quote" button in my post to inspect the IMG tag.

Thanks!
Should have known that.

But something strange is going on, I didn't see your picture either.
I pasted your direct link in the URL-bar of my browser it shows the pic! When I then go back to this thread, the pic in your post visible!

Looks like your service only serves the link if you load it directly from them, likely to prevent this very use. Once it's in your browser cache, it works here until it expires. Unless they have a way to truly link directly to the image, I guess you can't use them for this purpose.

I have had zero problems with using Photobucket to store web images, then linking to them when I post elsewhere. I always use the thumbnail image code, which you just click on to copy into your buffer, and then paste into your post here. You get a nice small image that won't choke DSL lines, and when you click on it you get taken to the actual full-sized image at the site - in this case Photobucket. Not enough people think about it, but when there is a full-sized image embedded here, and people then lazily include it when quoting a post, the page quickly becomes too massive for a DSL user to load easily. I have topics on Ignore because of this.

This is a real pain!!

In Prius chat we could upload directly to the forum

I agree this isnt 1995, a mb of storage isn't a buck,

Why is this the only forum requiring external hosting?

I use my online Google drive to source pictures I want to include in my posts.
A little fiddling is required ...

Set the photo sharing to 'anybody can view'
Copy the shareable link

The URL will look something like this
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5KuQk2b_F-VdVBpUVd1RDdCN1E/view?usp=sharing
The file ID for this photo is: 0B5KuQk2b_F-VdVBpUVd1RDdCN1E
-- delete the stuff after the file ID
-- After 'google.com/', replace 'file/d/' with uc?id=

Ending up with
https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B5KuQk2b_F-VdVBpUVd1RDdCN1E

This is the URL to paste between the IMG tags obtained by clicking on the 'Img' button in the edit box toolbar. I find it least annoying to paste the raw link in between the img tags and then edit the URL inline.

Yep! Pics have to live somewhere else webbable, then you copy/paste the URL to to the pic here!

Of course to understand what I just wrote you have to have more than just a passing knowledge of how computers and the Internet works!
