I paid double for “gold” status so I could easily and securely upload images here. All I get is no no no. Am I supposed to just guess what the limits are? I can find no mention of this in any FAQ. It is 2021, people. Storage costs nearly nothing. Somebody tell me what image size, exactly, that I paid for?

1997 called — they want their 72dpi/640x480 file limits back.

PS: Will the last one leaving the 20th century please turn off the lights?

Since just about everyone just links images using the "Img" tag, I honestly don't know. I'm sorry. Mike ("Contact Us" at the top of every page) should know.

This is a dying forum, so it continues on old software and a degree of benign neglect.

Don't take it personally. It is also true that very few members buy 'Gold' status so there is little community knowledge in that realm. So far as I know, member names colored red are 'Gold' status. Perhaps one of them can help you.

I find it easy to edit my photo to the size and shape I want using the "preview" app that comes with every Macintosh***, upload it to my google drive**, and then show it here in a post using the <IMG> </IMG> tags. As Leftie mentioned, the common practice is to choose a free photo sharing service of one sort or another and use the <IMG> tags.

** This is not widely practiced in the forum because people trip up on the sharing and file pointer details. ymmv
*** I'm still waiting for stock Android to include a file resize option in the camera.app. It seems like an obvious oversight but what do I know ?

I get that file size limitation error once in a while, but don't know the exact size limit. I just save the image in a lower resolution (reduced file size) jpeg format and then attach the smaller file.

Well don’t I feel like a chump. Why is it dying? Is there a better forum out there? The advice I have read here is solid and civilized. That’s why I chose it. And don’t say Facebook. They are an evil empire and I will have nothing to do with them.

This type of BBS style forum is out if fashion, with not much likelihood of that changing. I've been a member of a salon type forum with even older software (Motet) since the arrival of the World Wide Web in 1995. We are all Elderly there...

The LEAF will be ending production. But, MyNissanLeaf (MNL) is still the best forum for discussion of the LEAF (even after the car is no longer sold new).

Sadly, all of myelectriccarforums is somewhat still geared around what EVs were in the works around 2015. It's a shame they decided to set up completely separate forums under different URLs for each different model of car. This prevented lots of cross-population of postings and content. That forums.myelectriccarforums.com exists with duplicate areas to these separate forums also didn't help, and that forum has had no posts in a year. MNL further duplicates some of the "general EV" chatter. It would have been better to create one forum instance and build one community, rather than fractured ones.

I didn't mean to make you feel like a chump. Your money is reasonably spent, and I think that MNL is the best LEAF resource available -- by far.
But the LEAF is in decline, and forum interest along with it. That is a general observation that does not really matter to any individual LEAF owner. It just means that the forum owner is not going to pour money or resources into the forum and I mentioned it to soften your expectations of customer support from the forum owner. Lefty the moderator does a lot to keep things going. He should get half of all fees :)

No offense taken. I often feel like a chump. :D Wifey and the kid make sure of that.

As I wrote above, I’m here to learn and contribute whatever I can.

So I dragged my sorry Pfizer second-shot ass out of bed and did some experimenting and found that a 1280x960 72dpi JPG at High quality creates a 229k file and uploads without a hiccup as an attachment to my post. I tried the same export but with the JPG quality set to Maximum and it choked on the 1MB file. So the limit is somewhere between 230k and 1Mb.

For real geeks, the photo is from my iPhone 7+ on full auto, then opened on my Mac in the stock Photos app, then exported with the setting described above. All photos were rendered in plain ol' RGB.

When it comes to just discussing topics and not drowning in emojis and advertisements, I do prefer this forum format (it's PHPBB based which is decades old now, but they do stay modern if the admin upgrades the forum software). I read on the other message boards and besides too much misinformation (*cough* Facebook *cough*), too much to have to keep correcting all the time. Here, that isn't a big problem, most of the veterans here will call it out quickly. I like that. :)

I’m totally with ya there, brother.

I despise FB. I barely remember why anymore :D
It does have one nice feature though that I take advantage of: I use the FB login to sign into other websites. It is convenient, and I don't worry about spam since I stay far, far away from that black hole.

That little FB icon on pages where you can do that tracks you just like the FB site - it's just more subtle. If you search "Facebook container" you will see what I mean.

There is also https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/ over on Reddit. Reddit is somewhat like a forum, but not exactly. I'd say it's better than Facebook, but it does have some downsides.

 The incandescent lights.
I just upload pics to IMGUR and link them here with the "Img" tag. It seems to always work.
