Hi, hopefully you can help me with a question...

Do Nissan Leafs require a rear wheel alignment, or are the rear wheels fixed? A mechanic insisted it is necessary for my 2014 Leaf Acenta to have a rear alignment done but then somebody else I know told me Leafs don't need that.

Thank you.

There is such a thing as a four-wheel alignment to check the thrust angle--make sure the rear is not dragging. i suppose there would be some adjustment feature also to make any corrections if necessary. Pretty much true for any car and even motorsickles.

Thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated.
Would you say that it is a requirement for Leaf maintenance, or is it perhaps a bit unnecessary?

By all means if you are seeing strange or accelerated tire wear or scrubbing, or have hit a pothole or scrapped a curb, or any other thing that could disturb or indicate an alignment issue, then it should be checked. Or if just curious about how it is currently aligned.

if there are no indications then it seems unnecessary as routine maintenance, but if there is an issue and not discovered early it can ruin a tire, which may cost more than a simple alignment check. True for any car not just a Laef.
