Hello,

Is a solar dashboard + socket charger advisable, esp for winter or would it rather potentially damage the elec system?

Cheers,

It wouldn't hurt but probably not help all that much, the output of such a small "charger" is so minuscule in the scheme of things.
Wouldn't hurt but probably not worth it for the small dash battery chargers I've seen.

If you are talking about plugging a solar panel into the Leaf's 12 volt accessory socket to charge the 12 volt battery, that won't work - the socket is Off when the car is Off. You could try a fused, diode-protected (to prevent the panel from draining the battery when it isn't producing power) connection directly to the fuse box, or to the battery (again, fuse-protected is important) to accomplish this. In some cases it might be helpful, but unless you are having 12 volt battery issues, I would advise against it.
