Nissan to invest $17.6 billion over next five years to ramp up electric vehicle offering
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/29/nissan- ... ring-.html
Japanese automotive giant Nissan is to invest 2 trillion yen (around $17.6 billion) over the next five years to speed up the electrification of its product line.

Nissan said on Monday it would aim to roll out 23 new electrified models by 2030, 15 of which will be fully electric.

It is targeting a 50% electrification mix for its Nissan and Infiniti brands by the end of the decade.

On the battery front, the firm is planning to introduce all-solid-state batteries, or ASSB, to the market by 2028. A pilot ASSB facility in the Japanese city of Yokohama will be readied “as early as fiscal year 2024”, Nissan said.

In a speech outlining the plans, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said his company was focusing on the in-house development of ASSB.

Re: Nissan corporate news

No matter which way you slice it, Nissan has lost it's once considerable lead in both EVs and battery technology (as well as a lot of $) due their dismissal of Carlos Ghosn. Through Nissan's bungling of the whole thing, Ghosn will have the last laugh.

Abusing Ghosn was more important than saving Nissan it seems. What they plan to do by March 2029 is going to be away too late I expect.

Exclusive: Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi to unveil 2030 EV plan this week
https://www.fidelity.com/news/article/t ... DF-OUSBS_1
(Reuters) - Renault SA, Nissan Motor Co ( NSANF ) and Mitsubishi Motors Corp ( MMTOF ) plan to triple their investment to jointly develop electric vehicles (EVs), two people with knowledge of the plan told Reuters.

As established automakers face pressure from new competitors and an expected shift in demand toward EVs, the French-Japanese alliance is seeking to deepen cooperation.

The three are expected to announce on Thursday a plan to invest more than 20 billion euros ($23 billion) over the next five years on EV development, the sources said. By 2030, the alliance is expected to come up with more than 30 new battery EVs underpinned by five common platforms, they said.

Ironically, Ghosn's successor stepped down for compensation issues as well.

I think the 2030 strategy is more or less a breath of fresh air for Nissan but they are very much playing catch up after reverting to the standard Japanese OEM one foot in and one foot out of the EV push once they started focusing more on Ghosn than EVs.
