Finding this was a little complicated after seeing it on the TV. My local PBS station shows NHK Newsline. The following describes a Japanese hotel's use of Leafs to supply power during a power failure:

NEWSLINE IN DEPTH 9:15
July 31, 9:15
At about 8:08 on the video.

I have been watching this for years and the technology does exist. The power companies and auto manufacturers have consistently had just about 0 interest in working with each other to actually grid connect electric vehicles with bidirectional chargers controlled by the power companies.
Eventually when electric vehicles are a major load for the power grid they will have to work together, it is inevitable. But until then both seem determined to put it off for as long as possible.
