I am VERY interested in the wifi hotspot possibility. My LEAF is also my mobile Ham Radio station which I deploy for our local Amteur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) community. See our web site for info: http://www.wcares.org. We have an interconnected MESH system ( wifi using the Amateur Radio Service channels authorizations on 2 and 5 gHz, which permits WAN for FEMA related broadband traffic. )nerys wrote:My remote access stopped working with my 2012 leaf. I think nissan turned it off since i still get signal the api is simply off.
Also got a letter about an upgrade but no price and i would only be interested if it remains free of recurring charges. Also not really excited unless they enable wifi access. I can add a wifi hotspot to my car for absolutely nothing. So would prefer wifi somehow i doubt they will add wifi since then you cant charge for it.
My connection on 2011 Leaf 004163 failed as of 06/27/16. Called consumer affairs for help and could not get it to reconnect using my saved id and password. I have ATT signal at home and work but "the connection to the center failed" is all I get on pushing Carwings, carrwings settings, sign in, send id and password". I have a battery case coming up for BBB hearing June 10 so don't want to risk resetting anything before that and possibly losing all my saved data.nerys wrote:My remote access stopped working with my 2012 leaf. I discovered something--when I plug in a portable battery unit (jump start size) to the accessory inlet, the nav screen lights up, even when the car is off and no EVSE connected. The menus look normal. It will not allow access to the charging and climate control timers though, pushing those buttons it responds with need to turn car on.nerys wrote:Yeah best i can tell nissan has turned it off. The car itself still seems to connect on its own but i cant send any commands to it.
Is there an alternative way to turn the hvac on electronically? I can leave a freedom pop phone in the car which has a data connection and the phone has wifi and bluetooth.
Can i activate the hvac via the obd connection?
Assuming yes to that is there a way to keep the obd powered up when the car is off.
I put 500 miles a week on the car minimum so no concerns of draining any battery
All i want to do is be able to turn on the ac or heat remotely while connected to umbilical power.. I dont care about battery level etc..
I got a letter from nissan saying stay tuned for a replacement option but unless its cheap and includes wifi or otherwise free service i wont be interested.
