Marine grade Power Connectors

For boats connecting to "shore" power, there are 120v and 240v (and 120/240) connectors, from 15 amps to 50. Good enough fo outdoor, wet weather use, but apparently EV owners are too stupid or weak to use them.

I guess we need special, expensive, one-vendor connectors because these were ... too unsafe and difficult to twist to use?

The folks in India don't seem to have any problems working with 240vac. In most of the world all the outlets in the home are 240vac, why is it in the USA there is so much concern?

Perhaps they are not "consumers"?
Or, maybe more of them have learned to be cautious?

Are EV and HEV cars UL listed as consumer products?
How about gas station fueling hoses?
Are our EV car users such idiots?

You need a combination of high and low power pins to interact with the car, so a different connector in any case.

Or, more importantly, are GAS cars UL-listed ? Or at least their fueling components ? If not, why not ? If not, why should EVSEs be UL listed ?

The mating female receptacle is (not visible) on the other side of where the Tesla charge port plug+cable connects to the EVSE electronics box.

Boat and RV owners are consumers but clearly those "standards" weren't engineered to be as idiot-proof as expected in today's world. In the case of RV's, usually the supply cord is hard wired so you aren't walking around with an energized cable. Unlike a marinco boat cable which can pretty dangerous if the operator doesn't switch off the power until the twist lock is securely connected. The bar has been set a lot higher for EV's; IMO for the better.

Actually, there is no real need for "communication" with the car. The driver could tell the car how much current to draw.

Also, the "extension cord" from car to AC source does not need to be "HOT" when plugged into the car. Plug into the car first, then plug into the hot AC power "Socket", just like one does with boats and RVs.

The whole "danger" thing is overblown, mostly made up. No real statistics to back it up.

Apparently toasters, refrigerators, lamps, and carrying ladders are each bigger hazards to life.
