I think that the blue center console is an appliqué that can be removed as you can now buy it from Nissan as an accessory.

It's a separate plastic piece. The blue sparkly or the black one can be ordered from parts and simply snaps out/in.

fyi, while I am still happy with the quality of the kit that I purchased and installed, I did remove the piece that goes across the face of the glovebox. In my opinion, it is not sized correctly and never did really look quite right in that position (it is too big from top to bottom). I actually like the installation a lot more after removing the piece. I think it also helps the installation look a little less cluttered...

FYI, a volt owner (not me) did this as well. I think all black interior would look sharp. Thanks for the tip on this.
