Sounds like a lot of money to add solar panels to the roof of a Leaf. I live in S. NV and park my car outside in the sun for approx. 8hrs. each day. I would love to be able to get an extra 20 miles of range by trickle charging it w/solar panels during this time. Does anyone have suggestions on how much this would cost me and where I should look for the solar panels? Thanks guys!

You are joking right? If not, I apologize, the discussion is about how many panels/cost one would need/expect on a home to power an EV, not panels on the roof of a Leaf.

I spoke to a dealer here in Georgia and inquired about a lease for solar panels, he said it was illegal to lease solar panels in Georgia, I'm assuming he knows what he is talking about, just never heard this before(granted I'm new to this stuff).

You definitely should check out solar carports such as electricvehiclesolarcharger. com/solar-carport-charging. Also, Renewz Isola Solar Charging Carport (go to PlugInAmerica.com, then accessories. Also, SunPods.com. Not cheap is my guess, but someone should do it.

It's been discussed in great detail here before. It simply is not practical for the amount of power that can be generated...

I know this is a solar panel discussion but I was just made aware that a Honda EU2000i portable generator is the way to go. Rather expensive at about $1k but may be worth it for the convenience of being able to extend my range while my car is parked outside work (8hrs/day). Any thoughts?
