Hello, while shipping my Leaf the SD card was stolen. Seller or transporter is not helping out... :(

I decided to go for the new map upgrade, it is $179 but I need the confirmation number from the nav.
http://tinyurl.com/bpja5op" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Have serial and set number, but can of course not get the confirmation code as it will not go by the blue screen without SD card.

Does anyone know where I can get the confirmation code?

Thanks, have been calling a few dealers in FL but with no clear answers, if anyone want to share the phone number to a knowledgable dealer or a contact at Nissan HQ that would have been great.

1-877-NOGASEV

Status .. 1 hour on the phone.

Talked with the staff at:
1-877-NOGASEV
" basically: call your dealer "

Nissan Avenel NJ, " yes we can get it, it is $3195..." the whole unit of course...

Does anyone know the phone number to a dealer that know their LEAFS? I would be very happy if someone could point me in the direction of a knowledgable dealer.

It is just crazy that Nissan can deliver a car that need an SD card to get the radio working!

I've never dealt with them but I recall seeing folks point to http://www.courtesyparts.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; on other Nissan boards before.

Thanks, both Courtesy, everything Nissan and The oregon company contacted.

Tomorrow I may try to take out the Clarion display to see if there is any data/codes behind it. The confirmation code is what I need, its stupid really, I have the vin, the serial number, the product code. Why would they need a confirmation number as well, just to make this the most stupid solution ever?

"Car of the year 2011 just dont loose your SD card mate!"

The original card with just the vin would make me happy, the navi is not important, I want the radio, clima and the "zero emision" screen!

Locally, Portland General Electric had their SD card removed from a Leaf at an event (the display still opens even if the car is off). Wilsonville Nissan (south of Portland) got a replacement for them for about $350.

I work for a dealership.

You MUST order through their Parts deparment. There is a special form they have to use, that is filled out using the code on your Nav screen in the picture you took. I can send you a copy of the form if the Parts Department can not find it.

Thanks you for answering, I followed advice from another user in the forum and called Courtesy Nissan last week. They ordered the card for me.

To anyone with a lost SD card, contact your dealer (or LEAFSpecialist ) with the following data:

Your VIN number.

From the blue screen on your diplay.
SET:XXXXXXXX NAVI-1:XXX
SNO:XXXXXXXX

Note down the numbers as in my photo above.

If the dealer is clueless a friendly forum member or Nissan professional can help you.

At least Courtesy and EverythingNissan can get the cards, surely most dealers but two dealers in NJ had no idea and were quoting complete navi units at $3100, even if i stated ONLY THE CARD please.

I wonder if cloning the existing card is a better idea ? SD cards, cheap. Thoughts ?

Won't work. They're called Secure Digital cards for a reason. You can't make a working copy.
Aha. Thanks for the reply. Makes sense.... Still... Sounds like a challenge to my neighborly UNIX guru.

I really hope Nissan makes a change to prevent this and adds some other anti-theft measures. Hopefully the utility logged a formal complaint w/Nissan corporate on this. I think everyone else who's been victimized should.

Hopefully word eventually gets out to thieves about the copy protection and about the cards being useless on other Leafs (if I'm not mistaken, given the DRM that seems to be employed here.)

Why? Even PGE knew it was their fault for not paying attention and/or disabling the vehicle.

Now at events where we leave our Leafs open, we usually just pull the SD card and throw it in our pocket. At auto shows, we usually have to disconnect the battery anyhow so it's no big deal.

If you have something stolen from your car, it is generally covered under home owners insurance. Of course - your deductible may be higher then the claim value. I learned that the hard way when I had a $4950 bike stolen from my bike rack on my $5000 deductible policy.

Could one create a 1:1 backup (using dd or any other imaging tool) to keep a backup in case your card gets stolen? I would at least be able to create a new SD card from my backup instead of having to spent a fortune on a piece of plastic.

I'm thinking about a warning sticker over the SD slot in case someone does try to access it.

If the card only works in one car wtf won't they let you make a backup of it? It is not like you can sell it, well you can but it only works in one car. I think this is an illegal practice. You are being denied your fair use.

Sure, but you need the exact same type of SD card to restore that backup to. Good luck finding one.
