Now here's a scenario I am NOT hoping for, but which I fear is all too likely. Iran ignores sanctions and continues to develop nuclear missles. Just before they become operational, Israel knocks out all their enrichment and missle facilities, igniting a new Mideast war.
There is zero chance of that happening. If not zero - atleast lower chances than all Republicans suddenly embracing renewables.

I think we will continue to get renewables funding - just that it will be in fits & starts, which is exactly what we should avoid to give clear market signals. Both parties are extremely addicted to pork - and can't help inserting lobbyist written legislation that favors state businesses. Afterall these are the same people who turned fiscally conservative on Jan 20, 2009.

I pray you, not Goldberg, are right. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2010/09/the-point-of-no-return/8186/
I have interviewed roughly 40 current and past Israeli decision makers about a military strike, as well as many American and Arab officials. In most of these interviews, I have asked a simple question: what is the percentage chance that Israel will attack the Iranian nuclear program in the near future? Not everyone would answer this question, but a consensus emerged that there is a better than 50 percent chance that Israel will launch a strike by next July. (Of course, it is in the Israeli interest to let it be known that the country is considering military action, if for no other reason than to concentrate the attention of the Obama administration.

Oh, Jeffrey Goldberg. Part of neocon cabal trying to ferment wars for a long time.

I'd bet that the chances of oil prices hitting the roof because of peak oil are much higher than anything Goldberg writes coming true.
