It doesn't work perfectly so here is the other one... I used three screws, one is visible. Needless to say, I'm very happy with it.

Okay, I did my homework. The images will be big, photobucket has no shrinking option there. Taken with my 5mp phone. Just save the pics on your desktop for further study. It's been in use since June so it's a little dirty. It's holding up real well.
Great idea!! Wiki-fied!

The hook is tricky, I chopped a piece of the same connector material and stuck it into the belt sander crack at an angle where the sandbelt disappears. [...] The bonds a holding great, no problems.
Wouldn't it be easier to first glue the "hook" piece to the pipe, then take a sander/chisel/knife to it?

No. I kept the opposite of the slanted side nice and original. It's best to make the slant cut, close it with the flat piece then attach the beak at the right place based on the slant cut. Make pencil marks where the beak goes and hope for the best. You have about 1 second to slide it around. If you've done any piping you would know. It hardens fast.

Just buy a garden hose holder for a couple bucks, attached it to the wall and wrap the cable and plug around it...done...
:cool:

I have to look around some more. The GUI is quite primitive and I saw no options last time I look to edit anything.
And I must say I do like those big pics of my creation on this site...

Maybe I'm a little redneck but this holster has worked great for me for the last 6 months.

Around $1.00 at Home Depot :D

I'm having trouble viewing these photos. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If I was to make it again I would make the latch piece on top longer and notch it in the middle for the J1772 metal tooth to hook into. This way the J1772 cannot turn or pivot and has to stay put. It moves around a bit when it rains, but holds well in dry weather (as there is no moisture lubrication).

I stumbled across this thread looking to solve the same problem. I bought a $15 DeWalt Cordless Drill Holster, and fastened it to the wall near my EVSE (Schneider EV2430WS) with a few screws and washers. The connector fits in there fairly snugly. It has an adjustable quick-release buckle that keeps the connector from accidentally getting pulled out. It looks jury rigged but I prefer that to a broken connector because it fell off the hose reel.

Having recently bought a new home I no longer have a garage. So this became a topic Im interested in (I used to just hang the connector on a shelf in the garage).

I have found on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/J1772-EVSE-Yazaki-holster-electric-vehicle-charger-holster-new-/221434864284#ht_287wt_1105" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and

I am not as "handy" as so many folks here so for me a "store bought" is a better end result.

Can anybody point me to an engineering drawing of a J1772 plug?

If so I can whip up a socket-end with the 3D printer I have. Making a socket out of ABS plastic should be pretty trivial/cheap once I get the design down. It'd be a fun and practical use for our little plastiprinter toy. :)

So I was reading the details of the ebay posting
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Weather-Proof-J1772-Mount-EVSE-Holster-Inlet-with-Cable-Holder-screws-/171309773131#ht_1152wt_1153" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and I note that this person states they have posted the "stuff" to print your own (if you have a 3D printer as Tugrik BRAGS about :mrgreen: )

See http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=16029&p=356570&hilit=j1772+printed#p356537" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
But they take all day to print.

This is what I use. It's what you want, for sure.
