Can you tell me more about how the Around View cameras are hooked up? Are we talking about 4 analog video connections (RCA/S-Video)?

I'm working on installing 2 dashcams, but might opt for a larger DVR solution if it's easy to grab a copy of the around view camera video.
All the cameras are connected to a separate module that combines and "stitches" the four images together. That combines signal is then sent to the A/V control unit up front.
Thanks, somehow I missed this response. In hindsight, I guess I would have to worry about powering these cameras as well, so I'll have to give it some more thought, but being able to record all 4 cams with 1 video input would be really useful for sure.

Why not dump the stock unit all togheter? and then reverse engineer the climate data off the can-bus?
Is the main concern that the carwings will stop working?

I'm hoping something comes of this thread! Could this be helpful:

It tricks the car into thinking it is in park, enabling the rear video camera to work. In other Nissan vehicles, it allows you to watch DVD's.

Hello

Can anybody hack US leaf NAV head unit to put Europe maps? Now in Europe my navigation shows California streets...
for many of-course.

I don't believe so, but how long are you there for? We're moving to the U.S. in a year... We want to take our European LEAF.

I feel an MFD swap coming on...

In all honesty, you may be better off finding a scrap LEAF and pulling the MFD out of that?

Nikki.

My first (and so far only) Hack is to add a small microcontroller circuit to "fake" the OK button press as soon as the unit powers up:

Obviously this was accomplished without altering any code, but a more elegant way would be to patch the code to eliminate this (any several other) annoyances.

I would like to ask you 3 questions Phil:

1. Did you test this hack with a phone, which is connecting via the Bluetooth, because while the Bluetooth info-message is displayed, the user cannot press the "OK" button:
5kxx.jpg

2. How much soldering is required to install your "hacking" microntroller? I mean, do the user have to solder simultaneously more than 2 pins?

3. What will be the estimated price of your hack? I would like to buy one, if the stupid lawyer from Nissan cannot be persuaded to drop this retarded confirmation screen in the following 6 to 12 months. (I love the LEAF, but this nag screen is like a "Spoonful of poop in the barrel of honey".)

Best regards.

I'm hoping we can sneak CarPlay onto this thing when it becomes available.

I've made a small screen touch simulator based on µC - you need to solder 4 small wires to touch screen sensing plate connector - so no big deal

Could you please share some more info?
Like, what protocol are you using? 5V or 3.3V ? Are there wires for power available, or do we need to get that from somewhere else?
Maybe you'd be willing to share some source?
Any piece of info would be nice!

I have some more questions Paqo:

1. Did you manage to squeeze all the added electronics inside the box?

2. What is µC? This: http://micrium.com/products/?

3. Do you intend to sell your product like the average normal capitalist, or share it like an enlightened Spiritual Guru: "We are taken from this world only that which we gave"?
I would like to buy one, if you have managed to squeeze it inside the box.

I am wondering, was there a public petition from the LEAF owners, requesting Nissan to remove, or at least improve, this insanely stupid and unnecessarily repeating "nag screen"? I bought my LEAF exactly one month and seven days ago, and the Carwings statistics shows, that I've made 238 trips, which means that I pressed the OK button at least 238 times in one month time! I really love the LEAF, and I intend to drive it at least 10 or 15 years (especially if after 5~7 years IBM manages to develop the 500-800 km range battery), and this means that I have to push this OK button another 42,840 times!

For example, the retarded Nissan lawyer who "invented" this nag screen can give the owners the following option: If the owner of the LEAF doesn't want to push the OK button zillions of times, he must sign this declaration in a notary/solicitor office, and send it via snail mail to the Nissan Inc. global headquarters in Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Japan:

"I, the undersigned owner of Nissan LEAF with VIN:____________ and Registration Number:___________, do hereby acknowledge that I understand and agree that my driving style is being monitored by Nissan Inc., and every time me and my wife drive out of the city to make sex in the car, Nissan Inc. knows and register this in the Carwings database.
Signature: __________
Date: ___/___/______

Notary/Solicitor stamp."

After receiving the signed and certified declaration in the Nissan Inc. headquarters the nag screen of the above mentioned owner will be removed remotely.

Or something like this.

In my 2013, I only have to press the OK button once every few weeks (month maybe?). I can't even remember when I pressed it last.

Yes, one of the improvements in the 2013.
One of the improvements customers suggested at the meeting at Google.
Those of us with 2011 or 2012 still push the button each time we start if we care about Carwings data, or ignore it if we don't.
If Nissan starts charging $100 per year for Carwings like their survey suggested most of us will start ignoring it.

Edit Correction: Year instead of month.

$100/month?!!?!? Which survey are you referring to? http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16357" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which I'd heard about, said the survey had these choices for annual prices: $140, $170, and $200, all of which way seem way too high, for the functionality provided...

Corrected.

so. in 2 years any update on this project?

can this touch ok hack be purchased or not?

does it jive with the bluetooth message? I don't use the MFD anymore (tablet mounted over it) but I do use bluetooth to link in my phone and audio from the tablet and would LIKE for the website to start showing me data (apparently if you do not hit ok to this nothing gets sent to the website.)

Awesome!

Is the flash on the CPU or is it external? Hopefully it'll be easy to get at :)

Anything like JTAG or an ISP port on the board?

Yes, it's external flash, and it appears there are several debug/programming ports, one easily accessible on the rear of the unit without even needing to dismantle anything.

pic

You can see the 2 SDRAM chips to the upper left, the Flash lower left, the CPU middle, and the lower right chip is an FPGA.

-Phil

Could you enlighten me as to which of the ports on the back of unit are able to read the flash chip on the nav unit. I'm eager to get into the code on here but struggling to get started without ripping my unit apart.
