I have a iMiev owner that will be joining us! We met her at the Anaheim chargers coming back from the last Santa Ana meet and she's a VERY enthusiastic new owner and loving dog owner!

Is this the first i-Miev owner to the group?

Next Gathering in 24 hours and 50 minutes.
In Cerritos, just north of South Street, about 2 blocks East of 605 freeway.
The South Street exit is the first exit off 605 south of the 91 freeway.

I will be bringing a refurbished GID-Meter to test on somebody's LEAF,
if that is agreeable with some LEAF driver.

Hopefully, I will see you all at close to 8 AM, when Hometown Buffet opens.
Does anybody need me to bring anything?

If you bring something, we can have Show-n-Tell.

The last Gathering, in Cerritos, had 16 people, and a good variety of
vehicles, LEAF, Tesla S85, Tesla S70D, BMW i3, Rav4EV, and Coda.
Unless I missed it, the iMev did not show up.

An excellent gathering, even including Tony Williams from San Diego.
For Show-n-Tell, he brought his latest "production", a clever reversible
mounting bracket for the Tesla HPWC, its cable, and its charge plug.

Thanks all.
Next Gathering in Santa Ana one week from today.

For those trying to plan ahead to fit a Gathering or two into
their "real life" schedule, copied from this thread's first post:

------ 60th month Gatherings ------
Gathering #60a: 8 Aug 2015 at the HTB in Cerritos for breakfast.
Gathering #60b: 22 Aug 2015 at the HTB on 17th in Santa Ana for breakfast.
Gathering #60c: 29 Aug 2015 an anniversary breakfast potluck at Jeanne's home. [details yet to come]

------ 59th month Gatherings ------
Gathering #59a: 11 July 2015 at the HTB in Cerritos for breakfast.
Gathering #59b: 25 July 2015 at the HTB on 17th St in Santa Ana.

This coming Saturday is our next breakfast EV Gathering, at the Hometown
Buffet on 17th street in Santa Ana, just 2 blocks East of the I-5 freeway.

Bring your EV, or EV interest, or EV questions and our group of experienced
EV users are likely go be able to help, or at least amuse you. We also try to
do our best with other questions, like what to do if there is a knock at your
front door, and a voice says "We're from the Government, and we are here
to help you."

I plan to be there when the HTB opens for breakfast, at 8 AM (not PM).
That is 0800 hours, not 2000 hours, for those with 12-hour clock
AM / PM difficulties. Yes, breakfast in the morning, not the evening.

See You There, Gary

I'll be there... with a bit of a suprise. ;)

(For those of you that know my postings on Facebook, please don't ruin the suprise for the rest of 'em!)

jp... the PM "sticks" in your outbox until the recipient logs in.

The potluck breakfast for 29 Aug is still planned, and we should get
some details in August. jp is very busy for now, but we all wish you well.

At this 5-year anniversary Gathering, I plan to do firmware
upgrades for GID-Meters that do not yet have F1.10, which
includes an intensity control function for the display, and
display of the 4 tire pressures. Also, one hardware "fix",
to remove one factory-supplied solder jumper that was
not wanted for our application, and missed in the
original design and construction of the GID-Meter.

Cheers to all.

Last Saturday in Santa Ana (yesterday), we had 21 warm bodies, and
a Honda Fit, S85 and 70D Teslas, LEAFs, Rav4EVs, and a BMW i3.

Quite a crowd, larger than the 16 we had in Cerritos 2 weeks ago.

Our August Gatherings are on the 8th in Cerritos, the 22nd in Santa Ana,
and a special 5th anniversary potluck breakfast on the 29th. C U there.

My husband Kirk and I had a great time meeting you all, we'll be at the next Santa Ana (possibly the potluck, checking calendar) one and hopefully talk to more of you ! Thanks for all the information you all provided, I'll have more questions =I look forward to test driving a Tesla next time ';)

Sondra

Sondra,
Glad you both had a good time.

The best place to get a test drive of a Tesla is at the
Tesla Store on the upper level of the Mission Viejo Mall
(now called "The Shops at Mission Viejo", I believe).

Then you can tell us of your experience and ask
even more questions.
Cheers, Gary

Hi. Just wanted to send out a quick 'save-the-date' for a morning breakfast potluck on Saturday, Aug 29th @ 8a -11a at our home in Irvine, north of the 5 Fwy. This will be our official/unofficial 5th anniversary gathering! :)

It's been a while since our last go at this, and the group has expanded beyond the original LEAF-group ... to all things EV. All are welcome, including prospective EV owners. Whether a first-timer, or old-timer, feel free to join us. It's a great time to get your nerd on with like minded EV enthusiasts. Of course, we promise to not discriminate, whether you do CHAdeMO or CCS ... or SC!

The only requirement will be that you bring some edibles to share with the group.

If you need a charge for the return trip, we have a quick charger for those that might need. Oops. Heh heh. Just kidding. We have L2 (240v/16a) charging in the garage, and of course some L1 trickle charging.

There are several QC and L2 within 10 miles. Check your Plugshare app/site.

If interested, send me a PM, or post here. We'll start a 'sign up' in the next few weeks.

Thanks,
jp

Great, jp,
We have the date saved already.

This year, we should remember to put a "STOP" sticker on
the screen on the front door, maybe on other doors also.

Thanks a bunch for doing this.
Cheers, Gary and Nancy

It is amazing...I have been driving my 2015 Leaf for a year now, and not once I needed to charge it at home! My workplace in Irvine has free L2 charger, and Nissan provides free QC/L2 for first 2 years. So on all counts, a pretty quiet year and did not discover the local community in this forum. I will try to attend the next one in Santa Ana. Cheers.

Is this gathering open to everyone? I've recently just bought a Leaf and am hoping to meet up with some experienced Leaf owners for tips and suggestions. I live just north of Norwalk.

Thanks,
Jason

I encourage all kind souls to try to attend our EV Gatherings.

The next Gathering is a week from today, at the Cerritos
Hometown Buffet on South Street, just 2 blocks East of 605.
They open at 8 AM.

If you are considering ordering any variation of a new Tesla Model S,
you can get a $1000 discount by using an Owner Referral link, and the
referring owner also gets a $1000 credit toward future Tesla purchases.
You may use my OR link, http://ts.la/gary5482 if you so desire.

My rear-yard water-feature, a 51-inch high 3-tier fountain, arrived,
and I have ordered submersible RGB LED light strips (5 meters each)
to light both the fountain (and the two backyard 10' x 12' gazebos from Lowes).
I will bring pictures, and any interesting parts that happen to arrive.

See you next Saturday in Cerritos.
Cheers, Gary

Two days, one hour and ten minutes until...
our next EV Gathering. The Hometown Buffet in
Cerritos is 2 blocks East of the 605 freeway, and
a half block North of South Street.

I plan to be there very close to 8 AM, when HTB opens
for breakfast. Bring any Show-and-Tell items.
Cheers, Gary

From Norwalk, take 605 south, cross 91, and take the first exit, South Street.
Go East 2 blocks to Gridley, turn left (North), and then go right into the
first driveway. There are several QC stations in the area, and the one
at Mitsubishi Headquarters is further (about 8 miles) away, free, and usually
available on the weekends (and before and after work hours on weekdays).

Or, the Santa Ana HTB (in 2 weeks and 2 days) is just "south" (really southeast)
on I-5, exit on 17th Street, and go 2 blocks East, just before the train tracks.

Join us whenever your "real" life permits.
