I have the same problem with my Blink, only in my case, I bought it off eBay, and I was warned going in. I was hoping I could fix it, but of course the endumbening trick didn't work. I thought I'd open up the nozzle to check for bad connections, but I couldn't find a bit that would fit the screws, despite having a whole kit of "security" bits. Anyone else have any luck with that?

I ended up putting it aside until I could get that sorted, and in the meantime I bought a pre-assembled OpenEVSE. (I'd half-intended to convert the Blink with an OpenEVSE kit when I bought it, but that kind of depended on the J1772 cable working.) The difference in size between the Blink and the OpenEVSE is comical, BTW.

As for its size the Blink has more stuff in it, a mini-PC running Linux, energy meter, big LCD display, and wi-fi module. All in all there is no other home-use EVSE on the market today that has a comparable set of features. Reliability has been poor though.

As for the bit to open the handle, I got this set with the intention to solder-fix the crimps at some point, but haven't used it yet:

Thanks, but let me know if one of them actually works, eh? :)

I checked the fit but didn't open the handle. You just need the T-15 5 point bit. If you're concerned the bit will snap then you may have to wait a while for the final confirmation, as this project is very far down on my todo list.

Thanks, it worked.

Although I didn't find anything wrong once I'd opened the handle, so back to the drawing board...

Our 40 amp J-Plug cable assembly is the most flexible and lightest of any 30 amp or higher rated cabl, and a perfect replacement for your troubled EVSE.

http://shop.quickchargepower.com/J-Plug-J1772-40-Amp-Plug-Cable-Assembly-JPC40A.htm

There are 8 total conductors (40 amp):

2) Black - Line 1 (12 gauge)
2) Red - Line 2 (12 gauge)
1) Green - Ground (12 gauge)
1) Purple - Pilot pin (18 gauge)
1) Blue - not used (18 gauge)
1) Orange - not used (18 gauge)

There are 8 total conductors (80 amp):

2) Black - Line 1 (8 gauge)
2) Red - Line 2 (8 gauge)
1) Green - Ground (8 gauge)
1) Purple - Pilot pin (18 gauge)
1) Blue - not used (18 gauge)
1) Orange - not used (18 gauge)

We use this same cable in JESLA, JLong, and other products, so the unused 18 gauge wires do have purposes elsewhere.
