Tony,

What does "controlling" mean, in the sentence

'The Mile/kWh value in red below is controlling, NOT speed'

Controlling means that should you be driving 50 mph with a heater blasting, you could be consuming energy at a rate of 2.5 miles per kilowatt hour.

In the past, people have tried to equate average speed and other methods with range, but the only thing that actually matters is how much energy is stored in the battery and what is the consumption rate.

So, 2.5 miles per kWh * 20kWh stored = 50 miles range, assuming your consumption doesn't change. It doesn't matter what speed you ultimately derived those miles per kilowatt at.

But, given the parameters of a level dry road with no significant wind on a nice warm day, then yes, the speed well very closely align with the published consumption rate.

65mph will only indicate 3.9 miles per kWh in those circumstances.

Hi I made an app which makes the calculations in the same way. It automatically gets the weather forecast where you are and also takes wind and wind direction into consideration.
You can choose whatever start capacity you have. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/leaf-speed/id1239220786?mt=8

I second the Android request!

Would be willing to pay money for an app like this!

A nice feature might also be a charging timer. For those of us that don't have Carwings and don't want to set the very crappy built in timer. One that would give us an idea of what the rough percentage might be after we set a few parameters.

Hi
Well I would certainly like to make an Android version and I have also planned it. However I need to see a solid responce to this, but haven't so far. Maybe most Leaf users are using android?
How would you suggest I market it better?

I also use Android and with easily shell over $2 or $3 dollars to remove ads or buy the app.

Hey Tony,

Any chance you might produce versions of this chart for 24 kWh cars below 8 bars? The worst I've heard of so far is a 9 bar loser.

Hi Tony,

Could you produce a metric range chart for the 40 kWh LEAF 2018?

Thank you very much in advance.

Tried searching this thread but could not find the 40 kWh range chart...or can it be added here?
