According to my handy, dandy UTC translator this should be 7:25 p.m., Tuesday, Sept 5. Does that sound right to everybody?

Also, Nissan has begun to post count down videos on youtube.

#5 looks like the self parking function (which might not be coming to the us)

#4 is e-pedal.

7:25 PM Central time. you nailed it!

I wonder if unlike Tesla they will actually have some of these being delivered into customers hands in short order. I also wonder if the recipients won't wind up wishing they had passed and just waited for a model 3.

My guesses: Yes and No.

LOL! doubtful. Probably spending most of their time planning vacations and other things to do with all the extra money they have.

The first test-drives begin in October, so some level of production. Though not sure that tells us much about the shape of the production ramp curve.

As I watch videos from Nissan I ran into this one which casts doubt on anything Nissan says. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DShtvd5jJHQ 70% battery capacity after 10 years. Individual cells are replaceable. No problem with 110 deg temps- just don't park in the middle of Death Valley for a week.

"Let me try to explain..."

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since that video was made seven years ago. Instead of dwelling on the past, try to focus on the present and the solutions available today.

Easy for me, I didn't spend $30k on a Gen1 LEAF that makes those promises look like a joke.
But why wouldn't a smart shopper remember than Nissan lied to and screwed generations of owners ?

My next car is a Tesla. I want a company that will stand behind its product. Anybody thinking about this LEAF2 better read the battery warranty carefully and expect Nissan to not give one inch more than the letter of the contract specifies. And expect the battery to not exceed the warranty limits.

Wait and see what the new battery warranty is. Regardless of what Mr. Perrry was saying at the time, it was clear to anyone who cared to read the warranty that capacity reduction wasn't covered and therefore there was a significant risk to the early adopters. Exactly why I opted for leasing even though I had been leaning towards purchase prior to the rollout.

And regardless of what any Nissan rep says in the future, the warranty limits likely set the date for battery replacement if not the junk yard.

Just to clarify, the statement by OrientExpress is his usual wrong information, correct?

Tesla has not said anything about "Jan 2018 customer" deliveries, and there's no link to another forum with such a quote, correct?

well, that means the smart shopper has very few choices but then again, "generations" of owners? Its a 7 year old car.... pretty short generation there...

Several dozen owners probably fits the bill a "bit" more accurately.

Your two statements above contradict each other.

TSLA's notable achievement to date has been its continuing ability to attract more sucker money from investors, despite producing multi-billion dollar losses since its founding.

This is not a sustainable business plan.

With no path to future profitability in sight, defaults in TSLA's commitments, to both its customers and creditors, are very likely.

Nissan has of course gone far beyond the original warranty it gave those of us who purchased Gen one LEAFs, both by issuing a capacity bar warranty, and subsidizing replacement costs for virtually all Gen one owners that did not lose dash bars fast enough to get free replacement packs, under that warranty.

Companies with long histories, and which also expect to have long futures, often accommodate customers in this way.

In the unlikely event that the Gen two LEAF has any serious flaw, either real or only perceived, Nissan would likely conduct a similar customer satisfaction campaign in the future.

Back on-topic.

Anybody else wondering if Nissan will continue its practice, unique among BEV manufacturers (?) of providing a battery capacity display?

Will the Gen two (using twelve bars on the dash, or otherwise) provide owners a visualization to fixate on, and focus and amplify their capacity degradation anxieties?

My bet? Nissan will beat Tesla to market (I mean the real market) with a yet to be announced product. ;)
