Also, has anyone had an experience where they found more damage after the return than the inspector deemed reportable?

Is it true you can take it 10 days late after the lease expires? I called NMAC and they seem to confirm. Just wanted to make sure this is 100%.

Use the NMAC website live chat feature, and have the transcript emailed to you.

EDIT: It appears that the NMAC people just hand you off to the Leaf specialists for all lease questions, now. There is little point in using the chat on that site.

Any one knows knowledgeable dealers in Orange County, CA area who I can approach for lease buyout? I haven't had any success with a few so far. I think the trick is to reach the right person within these dealerships.

For anyone trying to get a further lease extension: apparently their computer system only allows for 35 months of extensions. Once you hit that hard limit, no more are given.

My 11 months lease extension is ending in July. They will not allow me to get more extension. No reason given.

I called right before turning in my 15 what the options were for extending. They said up to 4 months max and no free months. I would have had to pay for a full year of registration for only 4 months so I went with an '18.

Also, anyone who has a copy of bulletin 17-1-2177 that lists out the incentives and would be willing to share would also be doing me (and likely others) a solid. Context: Guy in reddit thread who just did a buyout documenting his process: https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/7emoba/i_did_my_lease_conversion_to_purchase_2015_s/

Just another data point to confirm that the era of really great lease buyout deals seems to be over now. But there are still some discounts below residual to be had.

I had a 2015 Nissan Leaf on a 36 month lease. At the end of the lease, my residual was about $11,000. I managed to negotiate the buyout price down to about $10,100. The dealer showed me a document (bulletin 18-1-2033) listing that this is the minimum price to which Nissan allows dealers to discount these cars.

Here's the full table from March 2018. I hope others find it helpful: https://imgur.com/VVdflmb

My dealer did end up tacking on an additional $395 "Transfer fee" which he claimed was standard. (This sounds fishy to me still -- I thought it was the $300 buyout fee I was supposed to pay.) With TX state taxes/fees, I was out the door for $11,500, which made sense for me when considering the alternatives. I wish I had been paying attention a few months ago...the healthy used market for the Leaf is making it harder to negotiate strong buyout deals.

The 'transfer fee' does seem fishy...

I'm in the process of reversing the modifications I made during my lease. The spare tire is now gone. I just need to remove the battery maintainer lead and do something with the little hole it will leave. I wish I felt better about getting a brand new Leaf, but between the features I'll be giving up and the worries about battery heating (I'm actually getting a silver one instead of the scarlet I really want, just because of this!) it just seems like a big hassle, no thrill involved.

Seriously, does this happen? What's the point of scheduling and doing an inspection then?

The car can get damaged by the dealership after you return it. That's a big reason for the inspection. The inspection report is supposed to be the important one, although if much time elapses between inspection and turn-in, you might have to fight.

I encountered a problem with the NMAC/Alliance end of lease process. My account number seems to have 'aged out' of the Alliance system because of the length of extensions. It took 20 minutes on the phone to fix it. You have to call the Leaf Specialist number and have them contact Alliance and then transfer the call to you for scheduling. It didn't help that the Leaf "Specialist" I got was a bit dim, which is unusual.

So I am glad I scheduled the inspection and not fix my dents. The guy from AIM was very reasonable. Luckily all the multiple dents were on the same part. A local collision shop would have charged me nearly 900 bucks to replace the bumper . The AIM guy said it wouuld cost me nearly 550 which I will gladly pay, My total bill for my 40 month old Nissan leaf S with 40,000 miles is a grand 650 plus which includes 120 for two chipped wheel rims.

I am going to turn it in 10 days late(my grace period) and happily pay the fine and get done with this. I will miss the LEAF(It's a second car to me, but a primary car I got for my elderly mother who loves it).

So I just got a call about my lease (which ends in October). Nissan would like to put me in a new one now and will waive all further lease payments. I should have asked about an extension, instead.

I did try saying that I needed to wait for the 60wkh Leaf. No extension was available for that reason.

I'm looking to decide if buying out my current lease is a good option

I"m currently in 2 year lease for a 2016 SV until July. I was able to get a good deal couple of years ago. 0 down and $190 per month. The residual value on the NMAC site is $13500

I have a local dealer trying to reach me to get me into a new lease

What would be a realistic expectation in terms of final price ?

thanks
