Fenix Power: A new third party battery replacement?

Just placed my $135 deposit this evening. (15% discount using LEAF380). I reside in Phoenix, AZ and am down to 8 capacity bars left on the Lizard Battery pack which was replaced in August 2014, thanks to the Class Action Lawsuit. I'm glad we won the Class Action Lawsuit which bought me an additional 5 years...but now since Nissan is doing Nothing to help the Early Adopters, I'm looking forward to Fenix Power to pick up the slack.

Part of your problem is that you didn't actually get a Lizard battery. Your battery was replaced so soon that the Lizard pack was not yet in production. If you were lucky you got a Wolf (4/2013-2014) battery, but it's possible you got another Canary pack like your original. Did the replacement hold up any better?

Well, now I'm confused. I thought the Lizard pack went into production late Summer or early Fall of 2014. How did they get them into 2015 cars for sale in...June?

Yes, it was definitely the more heat resistant Lizard pack, which lasted about 5 years before hitting 8 capacity bars vs. 3 years for the original pack.

If fully half of 2014 featured Leafs with Lizard packs, then we've given some incorrect advice - including Cwerdna. I don't understand, how, if this info was right here, it wasn't pointed out before. I remember several of us (including, IIRC, Cwerdna) telling someone with a 2015 Leaf built in August of 2014 that he didn't have the newest pack. And while my memory is failing, I also seem to remember a 2014 Leaf with a build date after June...

I don't think I've ever given incorrect advice on this. I've pointed to http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.p ... 8&p=374490 numerous times. All '15 Leafs should have the "lizard" pack. You can search for posts by me containing lizard.

'15 model year started earlier than a typical cycle. IIRC, model year '14 Leaf was a shortened model year.

What has irked me is when there are folks suggesting that some model year '14's, esp. ones at the very end of model year '14 have "lizard" packs. They could, but AFAIK, we've never gotten any confirmation of that from Nissan and the little degradation evidence we have of those cars (IIRC) suggests they don't. The suggestion to me seems more like wishful thinking.

I knew that '14 was a short model year, but....ah, never mind. I'll adjust my suggestions and make whatever changes I need to make in the buying guide. Do you know for sure if June was the first production month for the Lizard pack, and if not what that month was?

No on the 1st. Sorry. Not sure if we ever got confirmation here or elsewhere on earliest build month and date of model year '15 Leaf either.

I know (?) that the Lizard pack can be identified from the VIN, so if '14 &'15 Leaf owners would like to check build months...
