I believe the only steel rims appropriate for a LEAF would be a stock rim from an 'S' trim leaf or a 2006 - 2011 Altima, my son and I rescued one from a 2006 in a local salvage yard in Olympia, WA for $25 and a new looking jack with handle for $12 from the same car.

Are you talking about a donut spare, or about the stock steels rims for an S?

The stock steel wheel from an 'S' trim model, which is the only one that has these I believe.

A platform over the spare tire and things is such a huge improvement! Thanks for the inspiration!

This one is rough around the edges (literally) compared to the others, but I'm pretty happy with it. I just have a (borrowed) circular saw, so straight cuts only. The platform has enough gap around the edges to fit without a hinged section and has a vertical 2x4 leg under each back corner. The spare tire is pushed forward as far as it will go and seems to support the front of the platform well (hopefully it doesn't rub too much paint off the wheel). A ratchet strap runs under the spare tire, through the floor anchor for the original EVSE bag, and over the top of the platform.

Not only does it make the load surface flat and stable, but it's so much better suited for tailgating now (sitting in the trunk opening).

If you want to better anchor the spare, there is a rubber drain plug under the center of the cargo area floor. I drilled a hole in it, fished a length of rigid steel strap into it, and ran a J bolt through one of the holes in the strap and the hole in the rubber plug, with a washer and nut to hold them in place. The long part of the J bolt then goes up through a lug hole in the spare, and a large wing nut and washer hold the spare down.

Thanks--I saw the discussion and photos of using the drain plug in this thread. I'll keep it in mind! The J-bolt is a good idea.
