I haven't used the heater yet, so that will be interesting to see what that does to range. I have the weather package though, which was suppose to be a lot better than without. I tried the seat heater and it felt nice, didn't appear to change the GOM.

The nice thing is, since we only put about 20-30 miles per day I never really need to worry. I've noticed that when I drive I averaged about 4.1 miles / kWh and when my wife did she averaged about 3.75 miles / kWh this summer. (someone might be a lead foot!) But that's still a lot better than my truck or even our outback. Even if she cranks the heat up this winter I have to believe its still a lot better than getting 13 mpg in my truck or 23 in the outback. Our outback was suppose to be 32 highway 24 city but around town it never gets much above about 23. And that is a 4 cyl.


Checked my data this AM and my HX has started to drop. Noticed my average battery temps now in the low to mid 70s instead of mid 100s this summer.
 
I have the SL so we have the same "HVAC" system. The heat pump seems to be similar in efficiency in either temp direction however winter temps are a much greater temp differential than Sumer temps relative to our skin temp so the power draw is roughly double in winter vs summer although seat & steering wheel heating can mitigate that spending on your clothing choice & tolerance level.

To be honest your consumption for both of you is on the high side so the HVAC consumption will be smaller chunk of total energy consumed but you daily range needs are so small it's immaterial.

For comparison I get 4.8-4.9 in the summer & around 3.7-3.9 in the winter and of course in between in spring & fall. Any chance your tire psi is at 39 cold?

I haven't checked the tires for about a month. It was blazing hot outside at that time, but ever since I brought it home I've been around 4.1 and my wife upper 3's on average. Part of it might be lots of shorts drives, so each time it has to cool the cabin down. Its just getting cool inside and my drive is done. I also don't use eco mode. I'm not too worried about it. Pretty sure my wife is lower because she drives it harder.

In the morning I'll get something like 4.5 going to work. Lunch maybe 4.0. Going home like 3.6. Could be elevation, more likely AC usage. Not sure yet if it will flip this winter.

All in all, i'm happy with it. Gas is 3.49 right now and at night my power is 0.12 / kWh. I'm well ahead.
 
We're all WAY ahead, gas is now 3.69/gal here & $.16/kWh so I feel ya there. I was doing 4.2 last summer when I first got the car so there's potential if you care to play the efficiency game more but it's already so much cheaper that's simply more for personal challenge than real economic savings.
 
Updated Battery Stats below. As the weather has cooled, you can see SOH decline rate dropped, and HX has started dropping.

Can't remember my ODO at the moment and leafspy never reports it correctly, so I'll add it later. Battery Temps this AM were around 68 for the three averaged.

My 40kWh and 60kWh Leaf seem to be following the same degradation curve. The SOH drops uncomfortably quickly until the odometer reached 7000 miles, and then the decline slows down to about 1/3 the rate. That’s after taking out the big drops every 90 days, of course.

my drop is now 5 days late (never more than 2 days off the 90 day cycle before) and considering the last adjustment went up, I am thinking the BMS is simply a lot slower getting a fix on the pack than previous models :roll:

In July and October I had an upward correction of .47% and .52% this left me with a total loss for the summer (6 months) of only .17%
The first year was the bad one where I lost 7.49%. My total loss at 19 months is 7.69%, so for the last 7 months I have a very small loss or the BMS is just making up for it’s over zealous first year estimate. Who knows

I check it weekly with LeafSpy and I have never seen my SOH go up it just goes down daily at a rate of .02%

Holding relatively steady in the 94.xx% range. After the large drop in May/June I've just been seeing very slow degradation of about 0.2% each month.

This! I can't recall the last time I used LeafSpy, at least a year. Just ruins the enjoyment of the car, as there's absolutely nothing good you can do with the information. I charge to 80% most of the time, try to avoid charging when it's hot out, try to avoid deep discharging, otherwise I just drive it.

Same reason I wouldn't want to have a DNA test to find out my life expectancy - sometimes ignorance is bliss

+1 I've been charging to 60% during the summer and now I'm a bit less careful but I still try to keep it under 80%. I did just check LeafSpy a few weeks ago and I'm at around 94% SOH but I was as low as 92% in the first 6 months before the BMS update on my 2017 S. My LBW still comes on at 14% and I have no noticeable loss of range The dash says I get 4.9 m/kWh so everything is just dandy for me. I've also stopped worrying about using the heat (S model....) and just make myself comfortable.

Switching to an EV does take some mental adjustments but I think at this point I'm over the hump and knowing my remaining range is taken care of subconsciously. Fortunately, I don't need to do long drives and there is FREE! charging all over town so that makes EV driving very low stress for me. I still like to take the occasional 'adventure' to see if I can make a longer trip in the Leaf but that is an exception. Most of my driving is just around town and the car has been perfect for that so far.
 
I think I did get useful information from monthly LS readings - the first year. Now I use that info and just see if the drop decelerates with my car as it seems to with others after one year. I don't need monthly readings for that.
 
I’ve only had the car for 7 months so in just checking monthly and posting for informational purposes. Plus there were some theories posted about large drops occurring every 3 months and I wanted to see if they hold water.

I still read once a month to correlate transient SOH changes with battery temp. For long term degradation once a year readings are enough, and probably preferred to reduce seasonal noise. If fact, I think it better to take a baseline at one year and then yearly.

Do you still have your LEAF? Might be useful to update your signature with newest data.
 
I really don't think it matters much, check however often y'all see fit. A long term linear trend line will pretty much get rid of any seasonal noise anyways for our needs we are just looking for overall trends. I just think it is interesting to check, it really isn't a hassle. What does it take? 45 seconds to hook up the dongle and connect with the app?
