I used an Electrify America station for the first time today in Frisco, Colorado. The station said the Chademo port was up to 50kw but it gave me 77kw at times and 74kw (the plus can take up to 100kw). I suspect their stations are actually 75kw on their Chademo ports rather than 50kw like the sign says. It was -1C outside (maybe 30F) no significant heat rising of the battery and no cold gating either (probably due to highway driving). Have any of you other Leaf Plus users had a similar experience on Electrify America getting around 75kw?

Yup. That is the norm. You didn't by chance record SOC when charge rate started dropping?

FYI; read "somewhere" the LEAF won't charge faster than 80 KW. Either way, its a welcome sight for me. I aim to Frugalize as much as possible on public chargers so I only charge until the rate drops below 45 KW (used to be 30 KW... ;) ) and unplug. There were a few times I had to rush around getting my stuff down on the stop. I was picking up 25 kwh in 23 minutes! LOVE that extra speed!

Thank you, I was suspecting so on all EA ports being like that which is a pleasant surprise. I did not know the Plus may not be able to do more than 80kw that is good to keep in mind. As for when I stopped, I stopped at 70% as I wanted a good buffer for regen going down the mountains. I think I was in the 60s at that point. I was also dealing with kids and such at the same time.

EA has added six sites to the "Coming Soon" List, which now shows 82. One is in Clifton, NJ; the other five are California sites: Two in Sacramento, one each in Walnut Creek, San Francisco and San Jose. I've added them all to WetEV's list.

And given that this is going to happen -- the sooner, the better. Standards confusion is a barrier to EV adoption.
Tesla's charging incompatibility is an attempt at monopoly.

If Tesla controls the majority of charging networks, Tesla controls the market for EVs.

If you will stop and think about it I think you'll see why your statement is a false charge.

Tesla does nothing monopolistic to prevent others from becoming much more involved in charging infrastructure and standardization. They create no market barriers to entry, do not buy out their competitors, do not keep or force competition out through price control, do not have a monopoly on such supply chains or political control of them, etc.

Any lack of quality competition in this arena is on the part of non-Tesla parties.

EA has added three more sites to the "Coming Soon" map, for a total of 85: Bowie and Clarksburg, MD, and Bellevue, WA. I've added them to WetEV's list. Hopefully they'll soon add the sites needed to complete the X-C interstates.

EA has apparently opened three sites in California (none of the other "Coming Soon" sites in other states has changed), making 15 for the month and 393 total, but I haven't tracked them down yet except for San Leandro (Urb., I-880 ex. 34). The other two are probably in SoCal.
Hopefully WetEV can provide them.

Also, at some point this month Delano, CA was removed from the "Coming Soon" map, and Tulare was added. The latter is a better location for people visiting Sequoia N.P. from the south, although one in Visalia would be even better.

Two sites are open, making 17 for the month and 395 total: San Jose #2, CA (Urb., Jct. S.R. 85 ex. 1B& U.S. 101 ex. 377A); Somerdale, NJ (I-295 ex. 29/29A/30).

I believe one of the sites I missed yesterday is in San Diego: San Diego #3, CA (Urb., I-8 ex. 4B/C, off S.R. 163).

Edit: Add Sunnyvale, CA (Urb., U.S.101 ex. 394). I'd already recorded the San Diego site.

Three sites are open, making 20 for the month and 398 total: Castro Valley, CA (Urb., I-580 ex. 35/36); Fremont, CA (Urb., I-880 ex. 21); Fairfield, NJ (Jct. U.S. 46/C.R. 613, off I-80 ex. 52).

There are now two sites in Fremont, and I need to check my list to see if this is an old one or one that I missed from yesterday, but FWIW here it is: Fremont #2, CA (I-680 ex. 14 or I-880 ex. 15). I also need to check a couple of the sites from yesterday to see if they are old ones.

"SuperChargers" and "Destination Chargers" for Tesla only.

More cars, more Superchargers, better selling environment for Tesla cars.

Updates to EA sites. I'm traveling. Will be slow or not at all until I get back in another week.

We have Tesla Tap.

Yes, there are some features of network effect, still Tesla nor it's charging infrastructure are monopolies.

With network effect related monopolies, the suggestion would be there existed a natural monopoly. But this would have to first require that any type of monopoly existed, but none does. Tesla does not have exclusive control of the EV charging market (fast charging or destination charging). Further, as far as potential natural monopoly features, there are high start-up costs and benefits of economies of scale, but these are not barriers of entry to the auto majors or others - so still no monopoly...

I do not understand how someone could remotely say Tesla is monopolist . Is Elon Musk smarter and does he work hard than any other EV maker's CEO? We all know that Tesla is setting the pace for all new EV makers. Musk has stated the other EV makers can use the Super Chargers if they wish to use those standards and pay the associated costs to make their cars Super Charger ready. Some Nissan dealers put in chargers but they never make a grid of chargers nation wide on the interstate systems. Selling ICE based cars without a network of gas stations would be a failure. Telsa has openly agree to share ALL their patents at no cost with the other car makers willing to do the same.

Here's WetEV's "Coming Soon" list, updated as of 2/1/20. One of the newly-opened sites I missed is in Sunnyvale, CA, and I've corrected that on this list. I'm still missing one open site somewhere, as my total is 397 rather than 398.

EA press release:
Electrify America to Open 400th Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station
https://media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/90

Electrify America will open its 400th electric vehicle charging station this week, setting a rapid pace for installation of DC fast-charging stations. The network’s aggressive timeline has resulted in the addition of more than 1,700 new chargers from coast-to-coast in just 20 months to the benefit of EV drivers nationwide.

Electrify America opened its first site in Chicopee, MA, in May 2018. . . .

Less than two years later, Electrify America now offers stations so widely available that 96 percent of Americans live within 120 miles of a charger. The company has no plans to slow down anytime soon – in addition to opening 400 stations to the public, it has more than 100 stations permitted and another 150 in various phases of design and engineering. . . .

Electrify America plans to install or have under development approximately 800 total charging stations with about 3,500 total chargers by December 2021.

Re EA vs. Tesla SC totals, GCR:
Electrify America is gaining ground on Tesla Supercharging
https://www.greencarreports.com/new...rica-is-gaining-ground-on-tesla-supercharging

. . . In terms of locations, it’s not exactly close, but it’s made shocking progress in 20 months versus Tesla’s eight years. The U.S. Alternative Fuels Data Center, which still lists Electrify America as having 398 stations, lists Tesla as having 756 stations—although Tesla, at 7,264 charging connectors, far outnumbers EA at 1,776 connectors. . . .

If Tesla makes money off of their Super charger network, why wouldn't they add a few non-tesla connections and use the SC network to help sell their cars and pull non-Tesla EV drivers into the Tesla family? And make money while doing it?

Tesla doesn't make money off the Supercharger network.
Early cars charge for free.

Supercharging was always a loss leader to help Tesla sell cars. It was incomparable with any other cars to get a competitive advantage for Tesla. Letting any other manufacture's car charge there would dilute that competitive advantage.

How would adding non-Tesla connections help sell their cars? :?:
