We finally got a reply. They say they paid $4K and claim it's a 6 bar car!

Ugh! Has 58K miles.
The advertisement that the battery is $1.3k is scummy, but $4k is not not horribly bad. I sold my 7 bar 2011 SL 55k miles with cosmetic damage on the outside for $3500. If they get themselves a 40 kWh battery from a wreck and install it with a Canbus adapter, they'd have a 125 mile Leaf for < $10k. If I had that car, that's what I'd do.
