I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEn2ZiY-dzM during a free Roku Showtime trial but was put up on YouTube on April 21st. It's 13:11 long.

Chinese citizen journalist Chen Qiushi traveled to Wuhan to report on coronavirus and undo the secrecy that would leave the world unprepared for what was to come. He hasn't been heard from since February 6th. Watch the full segment of VICE on SHOWTIME for free here.

Now available in Canada on Crave.
The above citizen journalist started reported Jan 24th. Clip mentions that coronavirus may have been detected in Wuhan as early as November 2019 and it wasn't until at least 7 weeks later was there a lockdown.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S-btzZaZU8 is a clip that's under 1:29 long.

Both videos have a bit of profanity (in their subtitles) in them.

Saw on CBS news China is reporting a resurgence. That seems really convenient since states are just now trying to reopen some stuff.

Seoul officials ordered all bars and nightclubs closed after as many as 40 new COVID-19 cases were linked to them
https://www.businessinsider.com/seoul-bars-and-clubs-closed-after-covid-19-cases-linked-2020-5
According to a report from The New York Times, the closure comes after a 29-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday after he visited three nightclubs in the Itaewon area in the city last weekend. As of Saturday, officials said they were tracking down more than 7,000 people who had visited five nightclubs in the region, according to the report.

South Korea has so far achieved a great deal of success in mitigating the virus without completely shutting down its economy, due in part to its rigorous testing and contact tracing strategies. But as The Times noted Saturday, the question now is whether South Korea can make a further shift toward normalcy without negating its success in flattening the curve.

A cluster of coronavirus cases in California was traced to a coughing patient at a birthday party
https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/10/us/california-birthday-party-coronavirus/index.html
A "large number" of extended family members and friends were at the party, the Pasadena Public Health Department said in a news release, adding the event took place after the city issued a stay-at-home order in March.

One patient at the party was coughing and not wearing a face covering, health officials said, and other party guests were also not covering their face or social distancing.

"She was joking with people at the birthday party," Lisa Derderian, a spokeswoman for Pasadena, said of the woman who was coughing. "She said I may have Covid-19, and lo and behold, she did."

"It was selfish behavior that could have been avoided," Derderian told CNN.

Through contact tracing, investigators were able to confirm five Covid-19 cases traced to the party, all Pasadena residents.

"But we think five or six more party guests who live outside Pasadena May have been infected, because they showed symptoms of the virus," Derderian said. "They need to quarantine and eventually be tested."

Mostly Chinese returning from Russia. Russian cases are exploding. "Stable Genus" in charge of Russia... Somewhere there is a stable missing its genus. And has a big pile of horse droppings needing shoveling.
China has 11 cases on the border. Plus 1 in Wuhan.

USA has 20,329 new cases. And that's likely an undercount, as there isn't enough testing, most places. Perhaps Utah. Perhaps the West Wing.

To amend the above slightly, we were told to wear a mask only, but only, if we were sick.

I've been wearing a mask for every interaction outside of our household since early March. The mask itself I already had from evicting pigeons from our church's bell tower a couple of years ago, so I only needed to buy replacement filters, and have actually now come up with a pretty good way to sterilize what I have.

It has P95 filters over organic vapor canisters. P95s are N95s that are also oil resistant and have a longer service life. Not to brag, but it invariably gets positive comments every time I wear it. I have a similar setup for my wife (she already had the mask from her time working in artistic manufacturing) but she hasn't needed to wear it because I haven't let her get into a situation where it would be necessary.

Nancy Pelosi as President for the next 6-7 months would be just fine by me.

Yes, but is somewhat unlikely as everyone near the President is tested daily. And many of the staff have been ordered to wear masks, just not in public view.

Utah being at the top of the testing:estimated_cases ratio on the mainland isn't surprising, they are religious but not fascist.

Hawaii is getting close to suppression. Good public health department.

https://health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/what-you-should-know/current-situation-in-hawaii/#epicurve

We can't go to Hawaii without a two week quarantine, of course.

Alaska might miss out on much of the "fun" as well.

Look inside socially distanced Shanghai Disneyland, reopened with masks, temperature checks and spaced out lines (https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/11/photos-shanghai-disneyland-reopens-after-covid-19-pandemic-closure.htm) has a few pics.

Shanghai Disneyland reopens at 30% capacity after three-month closure (https://www.cnbc.com/video/2020/05/11/shanghai-disneyland-reopening-coronavirus-social-distancing.html) is about 4.5 minutes long.

In 30 min the paint had transferred to every individual and was on the faces of 3.

That sounds like an episode of Mythbusters too.

Tomorrow night @9 (for me, check local listings), PBS "Nova" episode "Decoding Covid-19".
Thanks! Any good?

I forgot to record it but it seems like there are reruns. Looks like it can be watched at https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/decoding-covid-19/, as well.

Yes, covered developments of potential treatments (antibodies etc.) and vaccines (RNA & DNA) as well as showing the kind of contact tracing that was instituted in Wuhan, with Nova's more scientific emphasis than you get in the mass media.

Have only had a chance to skim this.

I’ve landed in Hong Kong after flying from Paris CDG, via London Heathrow. I now have to wait ~8 hours before I get my #COVID19 test results and thus have ample time to tweet about my experience.
Was interesting. They also on Twitter wrote:
If I broke my quarantine, I could be jailed for up to 6 months and fined up to HK$25,000 (US$3,225). The HK government also encourages people to report quarantine breakers. I would be genuinely afraid of the public wrath if I were to step outside wearing my bracelet.

Thank you! I watched. It was good.

Was helpful to see more about their QR code, green (and other color) code system that incorporates contact tracing. That level of Big Brotherism I don't think would fly here in the US. It would have to be something more anonymized w/no central database like Google and Apple developed (which I honestly know little about).

I started a thread on that ep over at https://www.tivocommunity.com/community/index.php?threads/nova-decoding-covid-19.577442/. I wonder if anyone will respond. In TCF's happy hour/off-topic area, there's a sub-area for coronavirus discussion. But, you need to have a free account there to see both of those.

NRA rules. Pull gun, get what you want. Private property doesn't matter, if you have the gun and they don't.

Try that and let us know how it turns out.

OWOSSO, Mich. — Armed members of the Michigan Home Guard stood outside Karl Manke's barbershop, ready to blockade the door if police arrived. They were determined to help Manke, 77, reopen his shop Monday, in defiance of state orders, and dozens joined them, wearing Trump sweatshirts and Trump cowboy hats and waving Trump flags.

Isn't that just ... Special?

77 isn't a good age to get Covid-19. Hopes and prayers.
