Re: Fenix Power: A new third party battery replacement?

In the end, they are going to end up blaming being unable to develop their own pack on 'COVID-19 problems'. It's the perfect out for them.
LEAF '13 SL+Prem (mfg 12/13, leased 4/14, bought 5/17, sold 11/18, 34K mi, AHr 58, SOH 87%)
Tesla S 75D (3/17, 45K mi)
Tesla X 100D (12/18, 23K mi)
ICE free since '18
100K+ 100% BEV miles since '14

I'm looking forward to not seeing them any more.

I'm kinda "watching" the video at 2x speed. At around 7:25, in 1Q 2020, he essentially says that for the highest priority folks (battery condition is such that the person needs help the most), they will temporarily install a healthier or newer Nissan battery pack. There's more to the video and if someone wants to summarize, go ahead. I have no interest nor time to do so.
I stumbled across the above URL via a Google search and noticed the video no longer plays.

Note that the entry from Dec 2019 is titled "Installs begin in Q1 2020".

Still haven't heard word of any installations of used Leaf batteries or anything yet from them...

 Tragic. I just found the Fenix Power site: 'Updates in Progress' splash page teaser myself.

Still nothing positive on https://www.facebook.com/groups/FenixPowerCoForum/. Just seeing more people still bellyaching of no installs, waiting for refunds, etc. Mr. Boyd in the last day said "Out over $3,000 to get a CPO battery and still nothing." :(

Thanks.

Here were go again: more words and no action, yet.

I watched Dala's great video at https://youtu.be/ensZ33hhNB8?t=264. At ~4:24 he gives his take on what it'd take to add thermal management. If he's right, I think we can write off any chance of Fenix shipping a thermally managed battery pack for Leaf unless some investor swoops in w/huge $ and customers are willing to pay big $. If Dala's correct, (IMHO) anyone who is waiting for such a solution from Fenix should bail out now and request a refund.

Feels like me and especially Muxsan is getting way more done with less resources.
Definitely agree--what you, Evsenhanced and Mux have done is, frankly, amazing.
Indeed. After looking at Dala's recent video (above) and browsing his and Muxsan's site. I agree. We haven't seen diddly from Fenix in terms of deliverables nor any demonstration of technical prowess/competence.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/FenixPowerCoForum has a whole bunch more posts. Now there's chatter about:
We engaged with Digifi to help our current customer and future customers have intelligent financing from someone who understands the future of Fenix Power and the evolution of the automotive industry...
At https://www.facebook.com/groups/FenixPo ... 1806605593 Bill Bysinger posted today about 3 hours ago says
Regarding when installations will begin, this relationship accelerates that process and we are currently in the certification process of over 80 installers across the US and Canada. We hope to have installations begin in the next 10 working days. This financing process is heavily tied to that success.
So, let's give them until Sept 28th to hear of an installation commencing.

I watched a video the other day from a garage (I think in Australia, or perhaps NZ) that installed a 40 kWh pack into a 2011 LEAF along with the NZ adapter. It honestly appeared pretty straightforward for a place with a vehicle lift and ability to handle the heavy pack.

Getting a decent pack for a reasonable price is far trickier for now, and I don't see how Fenix is going to improve matters. If anything it is just a middle-man whose only 'value' is financing and promise of warranty.

This smells bad.

They claim at https://fenix.systems/news/2020/02/01/5 ... rvations-2 and other places that they're getting their batteries from BigBattery. I recall seeing a pic of that some of that company's inventory before but can't find it right now.

I agree about the "value" portion.
