It's also interesting how he calls the separate company (BigBattery) who they are buying the batteries from "our warehouse of CPO Batteries on the West Coast". This implies something that isn't close to being true.
The requirement for LEAFs to be near the warehouse to be eligible for pack replacement is a tacit acknowledgement that battery shipping costs are prohibitive outside of a location near the BigBattery warehouse. Fenix can find ("certify") installers wherever, but getting the pack to them (and returning the old pack) is not resolved.

This has been my suspicion all along: the logistics costs are a nightmare, and they are going to kill Fenix if the refurbs do not last as long as they hope for.

--
Perhaps the better approach to the logistics is to find for rent by the day garage facilities near the large car auction sites and make the technician mobile. The customer can either drive or tow their LEAF to the garage.

Has any Fenix Power customers received notification of their CPO Battery installation? My Fenix Power Account still says "on Hold". It used to say "Processing". I called Big Battery in California, and they were not aware of any recent Fenix Power orders for CPO Nissan LEAF batteries. I also called my local vehicle repair shop, which does Prius Battery Replacement and they have not received any contact with Fenix Power, even though I recommended them for the CPO LEAF Battery Installation.

The direct link to that comment for me is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/FenixPowerCoForum/permalink/640295579952549/?comment_id=640976316551142.

How much time should we give them? Still around Sept 28th as I suggested at https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=590115#p590115?

Thanks for the update.

These are not good signs. I wonder if by end of this week there will just be more silence or yet another excuse/things are coming soon/another off-topic "update" from them?

Still nothing useful. Here was a reply at https://www.facebook.com/groups/FenixPowerCoForum/permalink/651207215528052/?comment_id=651296195519154 made on Tues, Sept 29th before 1 pm Pacific:
Well again, it is not helping us to make comments like above. An announcement on the first 10 battery replacements will be coming this week and batteries are on the way to installer locations across the country. It has taken a while to make this happen, but we are close. The company has been personally calling many who have been vocal on this issue, but clearly it is not enough. So I ask only to watch for two things to happen. 1. We are shipping batteries to installers and 2. Leaf's will be installed with CPO batteries within the next two weeks. This begins the cycle of shipping and installing you all have been waiting for and by the end of the year an announcement on the delivery of the Fenix Power Modular Battery Architecture for EV's will also be delivered. We have been working on CPO logistics for multiple national installer locations and planning for the Fenix Power New Technology during the last 30 days. This is happening and I would now ask of you, as we said when I was in the military, "keep your powder dry". Thank you. Bill Bysinger SVP
So, now do we give them until Oct 13th for a battery to arrive at an installer and installation to begin?

We've already missed the "We hope to have installations begin in the next 10 working days" that was posted about on Sept 13th (https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=590115#p590115).

I believe that the expression "keep your powder dry" is a reference to an approaching need to use it in "your" musket.
I didn't know the origins off the top of my head, but that makes sense. The expression comes up when trading stocks, as well. The context there is to have some cash ready on the side in order to make some buys when the opportunity comes.

Musket gunpowder does not work if wet so soldiers were well advised to keep their powder dry. It is not different in intent than telling a tradesman to keep their tools clean and in working order but the nature of soldiers and life or death battles added some urgency to the advice.

Money people love sloppy analogies from conflict and physics although the metaphors trip over each other if someone says "keep your powder dry and liquid."

keep your powder dry--always thought that expression was related to powdermilk biscuits, you know the ones that give shy people the courage to do the things that need to be done.

I believe the original phrase was "put your trust in God, but keep your powder dry".

"The rescheduled call went at planned. The CPO pack has been verified, and will be shipped to PA next week. Install to happen the week of Oct 19"

Let's see...

How hard can it be to send out a couple used packs ?

Any way to lower the bar for Fenix ? Maybe declare company success at a tweet ?

Wonder if "a guy" is a member of this forum? If it really happens, we could get some interesting information.

It's been over Two weeks since this Fenix Power subscriber, detailed his call on the Facebook Fenix Power Customer Forum with CEO John Bysinger, that the 'Initial Push' of CPO battery installations would occur by October 22nd. It's already October 26th and only Silence from Fenix Power on any CPO batteries installations.

Yeah, didn't happen. When (if) it does, Fenix will likely post about it for the next 6 weeks (when install #2 happens...IF it happens)

Fenix posted some big updates on facebook yesterday that they will set up appointments soon! lol How long can they drag this out? They are deep in debt and have zero plans and are scrambling to try and find investors. They are quite literally at stage 0.

Canadian LEAF owner not getting any help from Nissan, as usual...

Still seems like there have been 0 used battery installs.

I'm even more certain now that they will never ship their modular thermally managed battery to a legitimate paying customer. If they ever make it to a saleable item, their window of opportunity will have closed as it will totally not be worth it to even bother w/the age and low value of gen 1 Leafs by that point vs. plenty of longer range used EVs on the market (and reasonable likelihood of EVs with cheap leases still existing). The addressable market will be so tiny that they will not be able to recoup their investment while charging a reasonable price.

They've missed so many dates (e.g. https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=589831#p589831 and https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=590115#p590115) over and over to accomplish something that doesn't require much technical expertise vs. what they've proposed. Sure seems like folks like Dala, Muxsan, the shop in Quebec and another Leaf place in New Zealand have far more demonstrated technical prowess than what we've seen from Fenix: 0.

If they're having this much trouble securing financing for this used battery installation effort and refunding people promptly, the odds of them having funding for their modular battery R&D, tooling, testing, etc. seem almost nil.
