BREAKING: ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Renewed For Season 4, Production Starts In November
https://trekmovie.com/2020/10/16/breaking-star-trek-discovery-renewed-for-season-4-production-starts-in-november/

I did watch S3:E1 last night. Was pretty decent. I'm still blown away by how much can be done on non-feature films these days. I'd imagine the budget available per ep is pretty large on ST:D.

So the newest season is now playing on CBS AA? Time to get those drinking games started! Here is my suggested version (recommended for heavy drinkers only):

* Drink when a crew member cries (usually Michael). Make it a double if two women are crying together.

* Drink when Tilly tosses her hair.

* Drink when Tilly acts like a 12 YO idiot.

* Drink when someone (usually but not always Tilly) has an inspiration based on grade school science - and is applauded for it.

* Drink when Saru says something Profound.

* Drink when Ash hints at a Dark Secret.

* Drink when Philippa says something mean and snarky.

The last person conscious is the winner (except for having had to watch the most of the show, of course).

Yes. S3:E1 of STD became available on 10/15/20, first on CBS AA.

It became available in most of rest of world on Netflix around 10/16/20. I received another email offer to rejoin CBS AA for 1 month free. The email highlighted ST:D, of course.

Re: the drinking game, w/o spoiling too much about S3:E1, one wouldn't get drunk from that ep. Was a very different ep.

Anyone watching season 3? I'm caught up after having watched S3:E3 last night. I unfortunately saw a few spoilers about that ep from my FB feed.

I'm impressed at how they were able to do post-production and the jigsaw method for the music due to COVID-19 (https://trekmovie.com/2020/05/02/wilson-cruz-asks-for-patience-as-star-trek-discovery-season-3-post-production-continues-remotely/). The Ready Room eps have been somewhat insightful. I'm not quite done w/The Ready Room for S3:E3 yet.

Oh, the Horror. To take the only element of the show that I consistently can't bear to watch (Michael Burnham) and make the whole first ep all about THAT. Then to make subsequent eps largely about the redheaded clown. I'm seriously considering dumping CBS AA, if only as a way to avoid the other AA. It really is a Crappy, CRAPPY show...

Generic Science Fiction show with lots of explosions and drama then add an unrelated title to it.

Star Trek has been dead many years and the title in my opinion should be retired unless of coarse an actual Star Trek gets produced, haven’t seen that in at least 20 years

The last season of Enterprise was actually fairly good - it ranks up there with the better eps of Next Gen and the original series, IMO. The people doing the current show care as much or more about Star Wars as Star Trek, and they know little about science, or about writing, for that matter. It's like a Millennial Improv workshop, dominated by several Ham actor wannabees.

I should probably start a new thread for this.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Begins Production
https://www.startrek.com/news/breaking-star-trek-strange-new-worlds-begins-production

I wonder if it'll be self-contained eps like TOS and how much story arc there will be, if any.

I wonder if it will be like Star Trek or just some more random space junk with the name "Star Trek" splashed all over it.

On second thought, I don't wonder at all.

I am, to say the least, not a fan of the Fringe alumni version of Star Trek. However, the Pike-helmed subversion (heh) of the show that ran the second (?) season was better than their other Crap - MUCH better. I'm actually fairly hopeful...

Indeed, re: Captain Pike. Anson Mount did a pretty good job playing Captain Pike and it seems like Enterprise w/Pike pre-Kirk could have compelling stories. Also, Pike post-Kirk taking command up until the https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Baffle_plate incident would be another maybe interesting thing to show.

There's also been talk of Robert April commanding the Enterprise before Pike. We've never seen any non-animated shows featuring that but apparently, per https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Robert_April, he was in TAS. I've seen a few eps of TAS when I was a kid. Maybe I'll re-watch sometime...

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Cast Talk Surprising, Emotional Season 4 Being Made Under Challenging Conditions

It's a bit crazy the Vegas convention still happened given how (at last check) Clark County (where Vegas is within), wasn't doing sell hot in term of COVID and vaccination rates. For 2020, it kept getting delayed until it was finally canceled.

Maybe there should be a new thread for this since it's for Strange New Worlds...

https://www.thewrap.com/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-meet-uhura-nurse-chapel-and-other-pre-kirk-enterprise-crew-members-video/ mentions a La’an Noonien-Singh. :O
