I have been wanting a leaf for awhile and wanted to get one that had some body damage so i could repair and drive.
I found a nice looking 2015. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/6694/VI7JZj.jpg
Had some back damage. OUCH https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/6117/z2deKL.jpg
But nothing i cant fix.

Got it for $2930 USD

But!! When i got it home and started clearing codes to find out why it would not run. lots of CAN bus errors that would not go away.

Took off the battery cover and.... https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/232x480q90/c/922/nCOdQO.jpg
some one swapped to an older battery and only connected can and ignition wires and plugged in.

Now i have to get a battery and fix the damage.

That's quite a project. Good luck and keep us updated. A 40kWh battery would be great in that car but they are in fairly high demand these days.

Isn't that something you do before you buy a car?
Replacing (even finding) a battery pack (on any EV) is not an "easy" thing.

I got it at a salvage auction it was AS IS. I know now what to look for get a selfie stick and look under the car through the small opening in the plastic cover and you can see the battery connection.

In my area I'm able to find battery's pretty easily.

To install just need a CAN-Bridge.

Dala is your man!
I installed his version of a CAN-Bridge about a year ago and it's been great; I recommend paying extra for the shipping/tracking (especially with as messed up as Europe is right now).

Update for you all.
I got a 2015 battery and it is at SOH 85% had to pair using EVs Enhanced paring tool trying to get a can-bridge is next to impossible they wont have the can chips until next year.

I installed battery cleared all codes with Leaf-spy only had the battery mismatch code used the EVs enhanced and now all is good.

I would be very careful getting a Leaf from an auction the Portland OR Copart has had more than one report of battery swaps.

I didn't think a hardware pairing tool was necessary anymore, other than in a few edge cases, and that LeafSpy alone could pair battery packs...

I did clear all codes with leaf-spy pro but was still getting error P3102 and my car is a 2015 and the new battery came from a 2015.
It's good to know that leaf-spy will do it maybe I did not clear the codes enough.

From the Battery upgrade wiki: https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=32819

After a direct swap has been performed, the only thing preventing you from driving the vehicle is a check EV warning light along with turtle mode. The fault code P3102 will be triggered. To clear this code and remove turtle mode, simply read DTCs and perform a P3102 clear with the latest Leafspy Pro version (0.46.172 for Android)(1.7.44.15 for iOS [Requires TestFlight]). That's it, enjoy the newfound range!
