Optimizing the balance of power and energy storage, minimal internal heat generation and cooling efficiency and safety, nano-tech for both rare earth mineral optimization and energy density , BMS tech to optimal control - not sure we know where this will all take us!

I assume that the reason here is similar: the high energy density battery can't provide enough power at once for high loads.
Thanks. It makes more sense now; you can go really nuts on the energy density side, even if the power it pretty useless. It's used mainly to charge the power side, which can be fairly small.

But then you have the hybrid compromise: how much power side do you put in? Too much and you have a bulky, heavy battery, little improvement. Too little and the energy side can't charge the power side on long steady trips like highway driving or a long hill climb.
