This is a list that I hope to keep growing of known working OBD adapters that are confirmed in some way shape or form to be working with LeafSpy as of 14/03/2022 (March 14, 2022), so if you have an adapter that you use with LeafSpy that works for you that is not listed PLEASE share it with me (just post below the name of the adapter and a link where to get if you can) so I can add it to this growing list! Please note as with ANY technology driven thing this list is a living list and max change/update with out much warning beyond this warning, so keep checking back as we work to keep adding adapters to the list!

Here's a great explanation about which ELM327 adapters work: (http://www.carscanner.info/choosing-obdii-adapter/)

I did a lot of research on OBD-II Bluetooth Adapters last year, and I highly recommend the one I ended up with:

Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XGB4873/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1)

Great thread! Thanks for starting it.

It would be great if we can have indication on which adapters completely power off and which consume power (and how much etc).

I believe the ones recommended by LeafSpyPro developer remain powered on. I see a small red LED lit on it. While its software seems to have a setting to allow it to power off this setting gets ignored when the device is used in a LEAF. I believe the power draw is small enough that it can be ignored if the vehicle is regularly used & charged but could be an issue if you park and go on a long trip etc.

I will check my leaf after its sat for a few hours but I believe mine auto shuts off and you are quite welcome, I figured I might as well contribute something to this community at least :) as for the indicators I will update as people give those also or I can test

on a side note, do you think we should stick this as the list continues to grow? as I plan to put as many adapters as possible so people at least have something to work with.

Your link to Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) is bad, leads to a 404 error page.

I wouldn't recommend people buy the KW902 due to https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=23776. Who knows if they fixed the problem and or if it's cropped up again or if any bad ones are still in the channel? May as well buy something else.

The two I pointed to at https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=506937#p506937 were the two I used w/my Android phones while I still had a Leaf. I sold the Leaf in mid-2021 so I have had Leaf to use them on. I bought those dongles before Leaf Spy even had Bluetooth LE support.

BTW, folks should be clear here if they're running on Android or iOS. For example, on iOS, Bluetooth non-LE adapters will NOT work w/the iOS version of Leaf Spy. It's an API limitation IIRC. Whereas on Android, Blueooth (non-LE) and Bluetooth LE adapters will work.

Before Bluetooth LE support was added at all, on iOS, the only choice was to use wi-fi dongles, which are too complicated to setup and Turbo3 (Leaf Spy author) wouldn't recommend now: https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=525414#p525414.

Thanks for starting this thread. We've had some previous one on this subject that have stopped being updated/added to.

BTW, your sig currently says "30 Kw Battery". Those are not the correct units for battery capacity nor energy. It should be 30 kWh.

Thanks for the info, as for the battery, thanks, I've always seen it given as Kw (Kilowatt) or KWh perhaps that's just a euro thing I am used to seeing when in Germany or Ireland visiting family?

No, kW and kWh are totally different metrics: https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=520169#p520169. A bunch of folks had to try to explain it to someone here at https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=389326#p389326. Ignore nerys. He was wrong all over the place over there.

Ah ok, then I apologize, thanks for the info!

It's going to be hard for people to find the desired info here, with all the side-talk. Fortunately, there is a solution: you can put the whole list in the first post, updating it as needed, by just editing that first post. Then, at the end of that post, mention that people need only read the one post if they simply want to find a compatible dongle.

EDIT: and I see that you are already doing that. Good job!

Hi. It's great to finally find this information. I have a negative recommendation, i.e https://core-electronics.com.au/macchina-a0-obd-ii-development-module.html Someone on Facebook recommended this, but apart from it being totally unavailable, the user support is terrible. It's a thing for hobbyists, not reliable equipment.

Also, are there any issues with adapters working for some years of make but not others? I have a 2017 AZEO imported from Japan.

Also, are there any issues with these adapters with LeafSpy on an Android device vs an iPhone?

The OBDLink CX also appears to not be compatible. Tried every troubleshooting step and can't get it to link up properly.

You can add Veepeak Mini WiFi OBD II WIFI Scanner Adapter to the list of those that work. I've been using it since 2016 without issues. Less than $ 20 USD on amazon. I used it on all Leaf models from 2016 on.

Here is a budget adaptor that worked.
