I dunno...last I heard, Tik Tok was a Russian spy app. ;)
Well, it is owned by a Chinese company, ByteDance which has sparked concerns...

What I posted are simply TikTok videos hosted on Twitter.

I was mainly kidding. I think you have to watch TT vids on your phone for them to take over your personal data, mind, etc. Watching them on a PC is probably perfectly safe...

Wells Fargo tells employees to uninstall TikTok while Amazon reverses its own ban

60 Minutes ran a story on TikTok on Sunday night. The video is about 13.5 minutes long and not behind the CBS All Access paywall yet.

Is TikTok a harmless app or a threat to U.S. security?
It's billed itself as "the last sunny corner on the internet," but is TikTok really a tool for China to obtain troves of data on Americans? Bill Whitaker reports.

Ocean Spray gifted a truck to the man who went viral skateboarding while drinking cranberry juice and lip-syncing to Fleetwood Mac

I learned of the above video at work but didn't know until I searched for it that the guy was given a pickup truck and a load of cranberry juice.

California Gov. Newsom joins TikTok

When I first installed the app as my co-worker suggested I do so (it is actually somewhat related to my work), I noticed that Chef Gordon Ramsay has a presence on TikTok. For those who have never watched Kitchen Nightmares and are ok w/reality TV shows, I recommend it. I can't believe I never watched it until it was in/near its last season. The show is a riot. I've only watched the US version, not the UK version.

Without having to purchase Wi-Fi, customers traveling on Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft can get 30-minutes of free access to TikTok, an entertainment platform powered by a global community of creatives. This is a promotional offering beginning Aug. 2, 2021.

I'm obviously out of the loop as I just listened to this on NPR.

A new AI-powered TikTok filter is sparking concern

Apparently, from Googling for the filter (beauty glamour filter), it's being making the rounds on the net for at least a week. I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2S8bvFGWzd0 from a week ago.

Remember -- if the app is "free", YOU are the product.

Bingo! And TikTok seems to be one of the worst offenders from a cybersecurity standpoint. I know the joke was made in this thread that it's Russian spyware, but if you get the country right (China), you're not far off. (I know these are hosted on Twitter so that's prob not really an issue here)

That's one loop I'm trying to stay as far away from as possible. Sort of like the Jonestown, Guyana loop in some ways, IMHO.

Don't know how much useful Intelligence Data, China can glean from "Tik Tok", but without doubt the all the other "Social Media's" glean large amounts of MONEY from theirs. To keep things in perspective, "Social Media" is only an extension of our own desire to "Gossip"...Think "Village Gossip" on a grand scale, but it makes it much harder to sort out the VILLAGE IDIOTS...
