Is this something I can use instead of the cells made by Nissan?

Even if they were exactly the same dimensions, probably not - unless you mean to build a whole replacement pack, with a whole new BMS, in which case... no, because it wouldn't be able to communicate with the rest of the car.

The short answer is: NO.
There is no "cheap shortcut" to upgrading/modifying the battery in your Leaf.
