I'm not finished with the season yet, but I'm still going to say this: STSNW is a major disappointment. Between all of the tongue in cheek episodes (or at least I hope they are) and the attempts at High Drama that just fizzle, it's become clear to me that the people who are making this show just aren't up to the task. They have a fairly good cast, but the writing and conceptualization are both weak. I'm not just disappointed - I'm sad. Many of these people are the ones who dropped the ball badly on the last season of Picard, so I guess that I shouldn't be surprised.

I must respecfully disagree!
I thought Picard S3 was a fantastic send-off to the ST:TNG storyline/cast.
I think ST:SNW S2 is even better than S1...with both being the best Star Trek (TV) since the 90's.

Picard certainly closed with a long, loving sendoff/reappearance of the old cast. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is both the dreariness and tediousness of the nebula episodes (not to mention their beyond Hackish continual use of nebulas and other plot elements from The Wrath of Khan) and their blatant contradiction of their own plot from the previous season. Even ignoring that, the Borg Transporter Hack was more hand-waving than intelligent plotting. So much of the writing was done by people with barely a nodding acquaintance with science that I can't help but be reminded of the Hot Mess that is ST:D. TOS certainly suffered from that as well, but that was a very different time, where most people had barely a nodding acquaintance with science...

I've skipped the musical ep for now, but I did see (surprisingly) overwhelmingly positive comments about that ep on one particular Trek FB page. I'll probably go back and watch it, eventually. I've been too busy.
I just finished the S2 finale and wow, it was great! Not done w/The Ready Room ep yet, but it's also good, so far.
Will go back and write more about SNW later.
