Power Steering Hacking

Sat Sep 29, 2018 4:25 pm

I've just become the owner of a couple of wrecked 2013 (G2) Leafs and have stripped them down.

Looking at the Power Steering it looks very self-contained. There's thick power cables for the motor and three skinny wires. Does anyone know what these do? Are they CAN (if so what's number 3?) or do they send raw signals elsewhere? I'm keen to see if I can make this system work ex-Leaf and maybe put it to use in a conversion.

Links to other's who have done will be greatly appreciated. Otherwise maybe I'll have to get my meter out!

Here's some photos:

There is a steering angle (steering wheel position) sensor that provides information for backup camera and stability control systems--I assume the 3 small wires are for output from that sensor.
