I agree that my mileage will drop with running the a/c. My past numbers have included only rare use of climate control.

I have only been driving my 2011 Nissan Leaf for a little over 2 months and I seem to have settled at 4.3 miles/Kw. I drive mostly 55 & 45mph to work and back each weekday which is about 56 miles round trip. Locally my electricity costs 13.4 cents/Kw.

May mileage:

Wall-to-wheels: 4.36 miles/kWh

Dash: 5.1 miles/kWh

Charging efficiency at 240 V, 16 A: ~85% (This figure includes a number of charges to 100%, which are less efficient than charges to 80% or less.)

As the weather warms my mileage continues to increase. May numbers were helped by two 100+ mile trips on single charges, which involved some hypermiling, and little or no heater or AC use.

Notes: No preheating used, so charging efficiency can be calculated, although the dash mileage numbers are too coarse for precision. Driving temperatures were mostly 60s and 70s. Battery temps of five bars most of the time with six bars seen at times, often after climbing hills. Elevation range: 8,000 feet to 5400 feet. All driving includes steep hills. No multi-lane highway driving at all. Some of the driving is on dirt roads.

And I got over 5 m/kWh on my CW monthly report for the first time.

My 540 mile drive (on an L2 trip, the slower you drive, the faster you'll get there) to the San Francisco bay area and back, helped to raise the average.

I also had my greatest miles per single charge on 5/31, 105.8 miles (with about a mile each, of ascent and descent!) by my odometer, reported by CW as 103.2 miles at 5.9 m/kWh.

CW continues to under-report miles driven by about 2.5%, so I believe all the m/kWh numbers below should be adjusted upward by the same 2.5%, for greatest accuracy.

For May-2012 Carwings shows 4.8 Miles/kWh. I stopped logging daily trips since CarWings works now.

As expected with warming weather, I'm getting better m/kWh.

At 17K MILES - we've managed to come back up to 5miles/kWh at the wall - after dropping to 4.9 last winter ~ as 'she who must be obeyed' drove around more in it too.
