This is becoming a recurring problem in that some local ChargePoint chargers have "disabled the stop charging button so more drivers can charge." It looks like I can't post the image yet as maybe I need more posts.

Besides calling ChargePoint every time we want to stop charging or pulling a hot cord (I hope it disengaged when I press the lock release (but some of those are broken on charging stations), what other options are available on the Leaf?

I haven't found a way to STOP charging from the car (2018 Leaf SL) or the ConnectEV app.

So, usually, I stop from the charge network's app but I can't on ChargePoint.

I'm guessing it's not a big deal on AC, though my car doesn't like it, but on DCFC's it's a much bigger problem. ChargePoint DOES have stop options on the DCFC screens, but they are covered by plastic, making it very hard or impossible to press, depending on the station.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

And hope this enables MORE cars to charge, I don't know. I guess they only want it stopped when you are in front of it, but they should make buttons that work.

Thanks!

Yes, I've seen that on a some local ChargePoint units. I don't recall if it covered their L2's and DC FCs or just one of them.

Usually on ChargePoint DC FC, if you swipe the same card that you used to start the session, it'll stop. On the CPE100 (https://www.chargepoint.com/files/install/install_guide_cpe100.pdf) units, there isn't even a stop button other than emergency stop.

As for "I'm guessing it's not a big deal on AC", it's not. Pressing and holding the J1772 handle's button then unplugging is a perfectly valid way to stop and unplug.

Back to stopping ChargePoint DC FCs, from looking at https://www.chargepoint.com/products/guides:
- CPE250 - you should be able to stop via the touchscreen but the calibration on many of the units is wonky, at best. If you can't stop via app, maybe you can stop by swiping the card again? Memory is foggy as I usually use their touchscreen.
My former Bolt which was CCS had a stop button on its infotainment system that appeared when DC FC and it worked. My (CCS) Niro EV doesn't seem to have a stop button. I'm not sure if I can stop it by setting its desired SoC level to below where the battery is at. This of course doesn't help a Leaf.
- CPE200 - from 9:35 of https://www.chargepoint.com/products/cpe200-installation-video, there is a stop button on the unit
- CPE100 - already mentioned swiping the card you used to start it otherwise emergency stop as a last resort. I don't know that there are many CHAdeMO CPE100 in the wild. The only one I've seen is at ChargePoint HQ.

Do you have a ChargePoint RFID card? If not, you can request one. I have 3. You can also configure NFC (https://www.chargepoint.com/resources/setting-and-using-tap-charge).

The Chargepoint stations I've used in the past could be stopped by tapping the membership card against the bottom of the touchscreen, where the RFID reader was located. I have no idea if that is still true with the newer units.

Thats what I do, just swipe card again and it will stop charging.

Thanks for the tips! I use my phone's NFC to start charging and will try this next time I need to stop charging.

I have an EVgo RFID card but not for CP. The NFC works well, but didn't think to use it to stop as well. I may have to try this tonight.

These are what the (relatively few) DCFC's CP's look like locally:

https://www.chargepoint.com/products/commercial/cpe250

https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/activate mentions requesting a card. I have 1 I got maybe a year before I even had a plug-in vehicle. Had requested it from CP. 2nd one came from receptionist at my work since we have CP at work. 3rd came with my Bolt. All are linked to the same account.

On AC, I just unplug from the car but the local CP's here say swipe your phone to stop the charge which is how I start the charge as it is the easiest way. Just have NFC enabled to make it work.

4 ways to stop Chargeqpoint Charging 3 mentioned already:

1. Button On ChargePoint Station (if available)

2. Press the release pin on the J1772 nozzle without moving it horizontally. Wait for charging indicator lights to go off, then remove J1772 from Car.

3. NFC via your Mobile Phone.

4. Use the ChargePoint App on your mobile device to End Session or stop charging remotely.

I use my EVGo card to start and stop DC charging sessions at ChargePoint locations.

I take it that pressing the button on the connector will not stop a DC session on these units ?
