    Nissan Leaf TCU 3g Upgrade/Replacement

The short story: Had the TCU (TCM?) upgrade completed on my 2013 Leaf. After the upgrade, I had to go into the carwings settings and log-in to the system again. This was easy as the log-in information was already stored, so I just had to hit the button. It went through some communication...

What's a good average for the miles per kw/hr

Most of the year, I challenge myself to average 4.0 mp kw/hr. This is not easy to do as I live in the foothills. With proper tire pressure (makes a huge difference), I can pull into work at up to 6.2 mp kw/hr (mostly downhill and flat), but on the way home, at 63mph, I usually end up with a...

Poll : Number of miles before losing the first bar

I recently lost my first bar at 28, 301 miles on the odometer (2013 SV). Most of the time, I charge each night to 100% and probably a quick charged up to 15 times over the last two years. Emotions were a bit mixed, but I still have no issue with my 42 mile round trip commute, but it does limit...

CalTrend Covers: I Can Believe It's Not Leather, But I Like It!

No problem. Good luck. I do like leather and spent much time researching the different companies and contemplating material. I did not think leather was available for the back seat from Costco, but maybe I am wrong. I had a 2003 Subaru with leather and it sure seamed like pleather, so I did not...

CalTrend Covers: I Can Believe It's Not Leather, But I Like It!

They cost over $500 for front and back through autoanything.com. Yes, they have many different colors. The wife only mentioned once that she felt they were hot. I don't actually believe her as she never mentioned it again...think she said that only because she did not want me to get them in the...

CalTrend Covers: I Can Believe It's Not Leather, But I Like It!

I really like the way they feel, as do my kids. I have noticed that on certain materials, they can 'grab' just a little, but with no problem (meaning they are not slick/slippery). After reading your question, I asked my wife, who was against the 'upgrade' in the first place. Her reply: "They are...

CalTrend Covers: I Can Believe It's Not Leather, But I Like It!

With two active kids, my light colored interior was taking a beating. I just upgraded to CalTrend's I Can't Believe It's Not Leather covers. I was hoping to closely match the dark accents in the car and went with Charcoal, they tied in fairly well. I don't think any discerning person will be...

    One Month Review

Did you buy yours at a small dealership just off 1-80? I saw at one point he had two or three. I almost purchased a 2011 or 2012 because they were sooo much less, and then I could justify the $5k+ extended battery, but I do love my 2013. You are correct, no quick charging on 1-80. I left Auburn...

    One Month Review

Thank you! The windows look darker than they are...it helps that I had the windshield tinted also. ;) I got the idea for the 100% Electric from another thread. A poster mentioned that no one really asked about the car, and that many think that the "zero emission" tag means it is a hybrid. When...

EVSE upgrade vs Clipper Creek LCS-25P

I think it has already been mentioned, but being that you are plugging into a rental, I would go with the Clipper Creek. I live a couple miles from their shop and they have several hanging on the wall in the back of their building for free use. It bodes well for them that these units are outside...

    One Month Review

Thought I would do a "One Month Review" of my 2013 Nissan Leaf. This seems like as good a place as any for that. I purchased my Leaf in the South Bay (San Carlos), but live in Auburn, so my first drive was a long one at 183 miles (all with quick chargers). I have put over 1k miles on the car...

Lose the "Building Trees" on the head's up display

I do think the tree should be an "option". There should be several options. One I may opt for would be a slowly generated naked lady. The more efficiently you drive the more...well, you get the idea. I suppose maybe that would also be distracting, but whatever. Clearly I should not drink beers...

    My Leaf Purchasing Adventure

That really seems like quite the adventure. I will say that I always had multiple charging options, so really no 'charging station anxiety' on my trip. I hadn't seen that 'ev trip planner' before. I'll be checking that out for possible future adventures. -James
