    SDG&E EV-TOU-5

If you have solar (or are expecting to have it soon), be cautious. The $16 fixed service fee will accumulate and result in a true-up charge of nearly $200, every 12 months. If your solar suffices for all your consumption over the 12 months, then EVTOU5 would likely increase your cost. If not...

    Seven year report, 2011 LEAF.

My 25 year old sons 2011 Leaf has almost 37k on the odometer, and usually shows about 50 miles range when fully charged. Eight capacity bars remain, but it seems to suit his modest commuting needs just fine, for school and part time work. Too bad Nissan's policy changed just as we approached the...

    SDG&E EV Climate Credit

You'll have to reapply each year. It is based on EV ownership as of May.

    Free battery replacement coupon??

Just got turned down for a possible subsidized battery replacement (2011 Leaf with about 33,000 miles, and eight bars), because the previous owner opted out of the class action back when he owned the car. Found this out after paying for the mandatory " battery check" at the dealer. So if you...

    NOVA The Nuclear Option

Google "RBMK Reactor", and you'll see why the Chernobyl design is fatally flawed. The problem was when that designed was mixed with a plant shift manager who didn't fully understand the risks of low power operation.

ARGH! For those of you who think the EV parking spot is a Premier Parking Spot

I call this "entitlement parking", and it is maddening. Come on, some common courtesy and thoughtfulness for someone besides yourself, please! Some kind of handy, standard notice for the windshield to remind these individuals of the malfeasance would be handy. Do we need EV etiquette classes?

    Public DC etiquette

Here's an idea to promote across the EV community; leave a card on your dash indicating your cell phone number and approximate time of return, with instructions to call if you need the charging station earlier.

    Integrate "dash cam" feature

This should almost be standard these days, to help validate damage claims for insurance, behavior of other drivers, document officer stops, etc.Provide ability to install whatever amount of memory you want to record the moments leading up to an event or incident. At least have a system capable...

att not using 2g after dec 31 2016

I'm thinking AT&T is getting a head start decommissioning the 2-G system already. Seem to have an unusual number of connection issues in largely urban areas. Anyone else notice this?

Love the Leaf - not too happy with Nissan

On a slightly different tangent: these Nissan dealers (and all car dealers) ought to be watching carefully the distribution model Tesla is using. Set up a storefront in an upscale regional mall, hire a few folks to staff the place, and be done with it. Service is handled separately at nearby...

Leaf now or Leaf later... Ugh!

BTW, now driving a 2014 ocean blue Leaf SL. Quite happy with the vehicle and terms. I also recommend just taking the plunge. It's like a computer: if you want to avoid obsolescence, wait until six months before you depart this world, then get one.

Leaf now or Leaf later... Ugh!

My ocean blue 2011 was turned in at end of lease to Fontana Nissan early March. It remains for sale at a reduced price at Green Eyed Motors, in Boulder, Colorado. It is the one with California diamond lane stickers, and side moldings. Never in an accident, but definite range drop since it was...

Do All Nissan Dealers Have Chargers? Do They Charge $?

FWIW - I really don't have a problem with dealers charging some reasonable, market based price for the use of their QC's, or even the L2's, as long as they make them avaialble 24/7, don't block them with their own EV's or ICE cars, and make repair efforts on an urgent basis. Don't force users...
