Chevy Volt wins Motor Trend Car Of The Year

I charge my Volt every night when the rates are at their lowest. According to the app on my iPhone, the car has gone 537 miles, 262 totally electric, for an MPG of 316. I blame GM for those gas miles. Since I've had it I've burnt 0.07 gallons and 0.03 gallons on two separate days. I wouldn't...

    Official Southern California Edison thread

I finally have my Volt charging in my garage. My story of charger and meter installation is obviously the same for a Volt and a Leaf: Meter Muddle Meter Muddle Clarity Hoped For Meter Completed Sorry it's such a long story. I expect it to get simpler and simpler.

    Gen 1 GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid (2011-2015)

When I was at the Volt plant I watched the robots weld a body together, posted in this video on my blog. I believe there is less automation, and on the 'net I bet you could find some comparison of man hours in an American car vs. a Japanese one, but a lot of what I saw was steps where the...

GE to buy 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015 12K Volts

There are fleets here in SoCal (notably Southern California Edison, just a couple miles from me and around the corner from my sons' school) who use the Rav4 Electric. The way they shoot around town I imagine those aged EVs have less than 50 miles of range left. I asked one of the SCE guys that...

    Gen 1 GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid (2011-2015)

I test drove the Volt (again) down in Manhattan Beach today. I wanted a reminder of what they handling was like, since it is two weeks from my delivery date for one. I am six foot tall, 180lbs. It feels roomy enough to me, similar to my Prius. The backseat has the same issues as the Prius...

The Volt is NOT an EV

The fellow that was going to trademark "range anxiety" was off on his own, that wasn't a company decision. It astonishes me the amount of discussion over what seems like rather minor points. I was disappointed right away that the Volt burnt any gas, since that meant it was not the EV2 I was...

    Gen 1 GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid (2011-2015)

The dealer I spoke to was on Santa Monica Blvd here in Santa Monica, CA. They are apparently not a large or important dealer and have not gotten the full Volt treatment yet. They were not great to talk to about the car, but it was interesting that they said they would sell it at MSRP.

    Gen 1 GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid (2011-2015)

Okay, but how do trolls make money? And the one dealer I have gone to so far said they would be selling the Volt at MSRP. --Colin http://voltaday.com

Nissan Leaf Test Drive Tour Reports (Oct 1-3)

There was too much traffic on this thread related to my little blog post after my test drive. If I thought I had the sort of readership that I apparently have I might have spent more time on the review. Maybe I could have made it clearer what portion was fact and what was my emotional reaction...
