You would owe tax on the capital gain if you sold the Leaf for a profit. Your basis in the car would be reduced by the tax credit, so essentially you could be paying tax on it plus any additional profit.

I have a Prius just like you. During the winter, it sits in a parking lot for up to 7 days in sometimes subzero Fahrenheit temperatures and it's fine. I start it up after a 7 day cold soak and it goes. I would hope that a Leaf would be able to do the same without having to run its battery...
