Any difference in footwells between PLUS and non PLUS?

Well I surprised even myself and opted to replace our 2011 Leaf SL (and our Bolt EV that is near lease-end) with a 2019 Leaf SL Plus. Now I want to get Weathertech liners for the new Leaf, but I wanted to make sure the ones on offer are compatible with the Leaf Plus since they don't mention...

NissanConnect EV / Telematics Hardware Update, for the post-2G world

Interesting. I had my upgrade done last week, and I'm in the opposite situation, I can communicate in from outside but the car can't communicate out! I talked with the dealer again today and they said best advice was to call Nissan EV Connect people. When the snow melts and I have time to sit...

    Telematics Control Unit (TCU) Update

Had the upgrade done on our 2011 on Jan 5th, I can turn on climate control, update charge status etc just fine but any attempt to get communication from the car side out fails. Looks like a call to the helldesk is in my future.

NissanConnect EV / Telematics Hardware Update, for the post-2G world

Interesting detail! I had a theory after reading the tech notes which I posted previously, I wonder if he pulled fuse 34 with the car turned on or turned off? If the goal is to reset the TCU, I would think you'd have to do it with the car turned off...but from what he wrote I think he did it...

NissanConnect EV / Telematics Hardware Update, for the post-2G world

I just got back from my upgrade. Similar story to what others are telling, here's the tech notes from mine (2011): On the way home I tried to reconnect with the existing credentials, which appeared to work initially, but then could not get a connection to actually download anything. My TCU...

How is Car Charging Group / Blink doing in your area?

Since I last posted we've seen two NRG units go in at Washington Square (ironically home to the area's Tesla outlet) and two at the WalMart nearest my home just off I-5 in North Portland. There are a few singleton units elsewhere. It's nice to see some reliable competition!

    Post Your Battery Degradation Results

Finally got a bluetooth dongle and loaded up LeafSpy Lite. Here's my stats: 2011 MY SL (manufactured July 2011) 75722 mi 52.56 AH 80% SOH still showing 11 capacity bars, FWIW.

How is Car Charging Group / Blink doing in your area?

Blink is the dominant (but not the only) player in the Portland metro area. Most of the L2 EVSEs I encounter are working pretty reliably, the QC seem to have finally stabilized, at least for the time being. I will use a QC if I want some extra cushion to get home or to add another destination...

    Tire Advice

I wanted to give a progress report since it's been about 5000 miles since I replaced the stock Ecopias with Nokian's eNTire. The traction and handling are excellent, these seem to even be a bit quieter as well (although that may be because the Bridgestone tires were pretty well worn at 27k...

    Ecopia EP422 tires suck

My Ecopias started showing shoulder wear at about 22K, and at 27K one of them developed a slow leak. I had my tire guy check the alignment (in spec) and replaced all four with Nokian eNTYRE(s). These are XL load rated and can handle up to 51 PSI. Initially I'm losing some efficiency due to...

    Need new wiper blades

Well I'm just back from the dealer where I picked up wiper blades for $14.99 each. These are the "beam type" blades not unlike the Goodyear blades at Costco. They are of course different in appearance from the originals and don't have the "offset" that's been mentioned. However they seem to...

    Is Carwings glitchy for you?

I noticed the service started working last night, and I received a call from Nissan this morning confirming the service had been restored and checking to make sure I was having success with it.

Winter 2013, now which rubber mats are best for a Leaf?

We just got the mats from Marlboro Nissan. The cardboard box was mangled but the mats were fine. They fit our 2011 perfectly (no cold weather package). Other than the color they are perfect.

Heater does not come on if temperature set to 16

My car has always turned off the heat when I set the temperature to the lowest level possible (60F). I consider this a desirable feature as there are times when I do not want the heat to come on. If I want some heat I just bump it up a degree.

    Cabin Microfilter Maintenance

Answering my own post, the part is available via the Nissan website and is about $7.

    Cabin Microfilter Maintenance

OK, so I did my filter tonight, and I did in the stupid tab on the cover. Right now duct tape is doing the job of holding everything together, and I will probably leave it there until next time. But has anyone identified the part number for that cover and found an online source? I don't...

    First Year Scheduled Maintenance

Did our 15k today at Beaverton Nissan. Dealer wanted me to sign off on a $200 estimate with a single line item! Not happening. Took off the brake fluid and cabin filter and suddenly it's $17.95 to rotate the tires do the multi point and run the battery test (I'm about 2 weeks early on that)...

DIY Horn Upgrade Mod - Updated Jan 12

I ordered and installed these a couple of weeks ago, no issues...they did come with the brackets and all the hardware. Perhaps Amazon has had trouble with people returning these incomplete in the past?

Amateur (Ham) Radio in a Leaf

A typical handheld VHF amateur transceiver will put out 5w which is a lot more power than either GMRS or a hand held CB This is probably a good time to remind everyone that there are licensing requirements for HAM and GMRS (as opposed to FRS) and the FCC has significant penalties for unlicensed...

Amateur (Ham) Radio in a Leaf

I've had an FT-857D in my 2005 Escape Hybrid for most of its service life, with no RF related issues. The head unit is under the driver's seat (obviously no-go in the Leaf) and the ATAS-120 screwdriver HF and the Larsen 2/70 VHF/UHF antenna are both mounted on the hatch lid, one on each side...
