Aircon goes back to outside-air mode every time. Help pls.

My mid-2012 Leaf used to be able to remember the last setting for freshair/recirculate.
But after some battery module replacement jobs, it no longer stays where I leave it.
It is back to outside-air intake mode every time I start the car.
Am I missing something? Thank you!

It's always done that for me if I press Auto to turn on the HVAC unless the car is very hot inside in which case it decides that recirc is better on it's own. Couldn't figure out how to get recirc to stick even though it's supposed to be able to.

So I just make sure to press the On/Off button instead of the Auto button, or just press the recirc button after pressing Auto.

Yep, this is exactly what I do.
AUTO then RECIRC.

But the next time the car is turned on, it goes back to OUTSIDE AIR.

It used to be able to stay on RECIRC. For the first 2+ years of use. Then after some battery module replacement job, it cannot stick any more.
