I think the OP is just noting the similarity between the J1772 connector and the "gun" gaming accessory being sold and made a joke that now that the "J1772 connector" is being marketed for other purposes that the cost of one will fall.

I thought the same thing when I saw that article yesterday. It caught my eye because of the similarities to the J1772.
