The launch was aborted T minus .5 seconds before liftoff due to high chamber pressure in engine 5. Next attempt is Tuesday, the 22nd at 3:44 AM EDT and another window is the 23rd at 3:22 AM.

Next launch attempt will be early Tuesday morning - 22 May @ 0344 EDT/0744 UTC/Zulu

I see another coffee-filled morning coming our way...

3:44AM Eastern? Oddly enough I'm usually aware around that time. If I remember I'll try to catch the live stream and try to record it.

Haven't had this much fun since Apollo 11!

Epic cheering in the background when those solar panels deployed. Launch went perfectly! Hopefully things go smoothly for the station fly-around and docking!

Elon's probably over the moon tonight - on orbit and S gets 5 star crash rating!

Major Tesla milestone: All crash testing is complete for 5* (max) safety rating. Cars can now be built for sale to public!

Whuh-oh - does this mean I have to have Tang in the house for every COTS-2 launch?

While watching the launch last night, I noticed someone in the SpaceX control center wearing a Tesla jacket...

Per http://www.startrek.com/article/doohans-ashes-launched-into-orbit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, Scotty's ashes were part of the payload on the 2nd stage of the rocket.

SpaceX's Grasshopper doubled its highest leap to date to rise 24 stories or 80.1 meters (262.8 feet), hovering for approximately 34 seconds and landing safely using closed loop thrust vector and throttle control.

Grasshopper consists of a Falcon 9 first stage and is 33.5 meters tall (110 feet). For perspective a 6 ft mannequin cowboy is on the rocket.

MCT - Mars Colonial Transport!
http://www.space.com/18596-mars-colony-spacex-elon-musk.html

Wonder if Mars-One will use Falcon 9/Heavy or the larger rocket and MCT?

http://mars-one.com/en/

Mars One is a not-for-profit organization that will take humanity to Mars in 2023, to establish the foundation of a permanent settlement from which we will prosper, learn, and grow. Before the first crew lands, Mars One will have established a habitable, sustainable settlement designed to receive astronauts every two years. To accomplish this, Mars One has developed a precise, realistic plan based entirely upon existing technologies. It is both economically and logistically feasible, in motion through the integration of existing suppliers and experts in space exploration.
