I've been following EV West since their infamous Pikes Peak racer. They are going to do Baja 1000 this year, since EVs are part of this event now. I meant to post their latest YouTube videos for a while, which might be quite timely now, since major blogs and websites started picking up the story.

These guys do awesome things. The first real deal tuner shop for EVs in the US and I'm glad to see them increasing their exposure in motorsports. My guess is that they had to team w/ a chassis builder for this vehicle, it's nice to see some traditional motorsports teams exploring the potential of EVs. Best of luck to them, looking forward to seeing hearing how they do.

EV West just ran the 2013 Mexican 1000 in their Baja Racer

I've actually spent a deal of time with this project. For instance, my last time at the shop, we pulled both motors, so I have "hands on" time. Also, been to the desert for work ups (even drove the Rav4 100 miles one way to get there).

There's a long way to go before this is ready for the Baja 1000, and it desperately needs sponsors. Hopefully, this NORA Mexican 1000 rally will shake the tree a bit and some money will fall out.

Yes, the car is a standard chassis.

I did start a thread devoted to this vehicle some time ago.
