For Sale:
2000 Ford Ranger EV
This is a factory Ford Ranger fully 100% electric pickup with the rare NiMH battery pack.
I purchased this Ranger in February 2007 and have enjoyed driving it immensely. It is smooth, quiet and drives like a normal automatic Ranger. It is a single speed gear reduction unit on it, like all modern electric vehicles, 0-80 MPH one gear. It has regenerative braking that recharges the battery while you slow down and brake and also reduces brake pad wear. It has an AC induction liquid cooled motor that requires no maintenance. It has air conditioning, heater and power steering. It has been upgraded to the latest SAE J1772 charging connector so it can be plugged in at the 1000’s of public charging stations that have been installed. It had 5800 miles on it when I got it; it has around 66K miles now. I commute daily with it a 42 mile round trip commute. It has a 40-50 mile “normal” range depending on speed and heater usage. I have driven it as far as 68 miles on a single charge but with very slow and careful driving. We have standard Level 2 J1772 charging stations available at work that I use during the winter, but I can make it fine during the summer only charging from home. The battery pack has 75% of its original capacity and I expect it to last 120K miles or more. Since this is the NiMH battery, it can be easily upgraded to lithium (LiFEPO4) and achieve 80-100 mile range. This truck is twice as efficient as a Prius and can be powered by home solar for free daily driving. It has a fast 5KW onboard charger that can recharge it from 0%-80% in 3 hours or less. This truck has participated in several parades and car shows including the Greenwood Car Show. It is in excellent condition for its age and has been very reliable. This is the very best example of a NiMH factory Ford Ranger electric that you will ever come across. Why am I selling it? I just received my Tesla Model S.

Wow.. very nice. It is really too bad that nobody is manufacturing a small electric truck right now. I bet there would be people buying them!

Very nice. I'm tempted.

How do you think those batteries would hold up in the summer desert heat in Phoenix, AZ?
